Hurricane turbo clutch kits- who has them

i have the hurricane turbo and a hauck clutch kit. my numbers are right with studroes.

Hey Viper RTX, assume yours is Blue/White with the 1.7 track given your photo. If is is, you don't have trail gears (24/50) or trail chain (92P) like the Blue/Orange LE's. You have 21/49 gears and a 90P chain for snocross get up and go. So your top end won't be there. I just sent the Canadian Updated Specs to Dave Marshall that I got from Yamaha Canada today. The spec sheet you got with your machine is incorrect and the dealer manuals for your machine are also are also incorrect. Yamaha Canada is supposedly sending out a correction notice to their dealers soon. I just ordered replacement gears and chain as I want the top end speed. I have Hurricane turbo and full clutching but won't be on the snow likely for a couple of weeks yet to test turbo and set suspension.

Ahh ok that makes even more sense .... In theory does any one know what the top spewed with those gears should be ?

Yep, Allen says 105 tops with Ulmer clutching for the Blue/White LE. Dave Marshall says the standard RTX LE 1.25 will go 125 (perfect conditions) with Hurricane clutching and turbo. So I figured about 5 mph less for a 1.7 track and he agreed, but I don't know how nervous the back end may be at high speeds with the 1.7. Hurricane uses the 8JP belt, reweighted, new helix, new sec spring, and primary and secondary machining. I think the machining is specific for the type of riding you do (eg overdrive). You should give Dave a call.

I don't buy that! I am on the XTX with the lower gears and when I was running 6#'s of boost with Haucks crappy clutch kit and before I machined the secondary to remove spring bind I was seeing 107 mph with the 1.6" track. After the new clutch kit and machining it was doing 117 MPH at 9050 rpm's on the track dyno.

Stock (N/A) machines are having trouble breaking into the 100's without clutch and machining but a turbo should be able to drive the clutches to full shift out. You have spring bind or secondary spring wind problem. Also make sure your track is on the loose side of spec and that the chain case adjuster has at least 1-1/4" of free play.

These skids bleed energy badly, when I studded mine the other week I could not turn the track by hand. I found the chain adjuster (set by Hauck) was finger tight with no free play and I had less than 1" of track gap with 25#. I loosened both and was much easier to turn the track.

The back end on these sleds are not nervous in the least. That is one thing about them they ride so stable that at 107 you feel like you are going 85 until you run up on a turn and realize under braking how fast you were really going. (drag shoot may be in order) only problem is repacking it after every corner.:o|

Hey, just the messenger on what Allen emailed me after testing on his dyno. But what you say seems to confirm what Dave Marshall is getting (125 mph stock gears 24/50 on the Blue/Orange 1.25).

I believe the 125 is with 24-41 gears

Maybe we can get 125mph with stock RTX/ LTX gearing and OD machining? If memory serves me the 117mph theoretical speed is assuming the stock .9 final clutch ratio.

yes
