Are doing this mod as a general improvement to the sled, or was there a particular issue that you're trying to resolve? Also, did you ever run into problems with bottoming out the mega float?

I'm surprised how much rust is under there in one year.
I bet that thing rides awesome though.

I was hoping for a plusher ride with less bottoming. The new Hygear shock has a bottoming stopper and help with the harsh bottoming with lower pressure... I will let you know when I ride it for sure.

I know its crazy how fast that paint comes off the arms in the newer sled

It still in the testing stages but it would be better to call and talk with Ross or John and they would be able to give you better insight.

I contacted hygear last april about mods to my megafloat. At that time they didn't have the kit finished and the price i was quoted for just for just the mega float was 250-325. they were not locked in on pricing at the time because the kit was not complete and the product had not been fully tested. ( i think the price actually came down some) The kit they told me about consists of a revalve, addition of an airchamber volume spacer and a revised bottom out bumper.
It did not seem like a bad deal considering hygears stuff usually does what they claim it should do.
The problem for me was that it took a long time for them to finish up the mega kit and i got impaitent with my sled laying around in pieces and i ended up assembling it and moving it from massachusetts up to maine where i ride it.
I was hoping someone would get thier megafloat done and post up some honest results.
I will be watching this thread. please post up some info once you get the chance to put some hard miles on the shocks.
if this works as claimed i just might pull the shock for a weekend i cant ride and ship it into them.

If it's anything like their Ohlins setup you'll love it. I got rid of my mono because of all the other issues with cracking rails and sliders not lasting and went with a ZX2 and had Hygear revalve that one. It's perfect for how I ride. They do great work.

Ok, so we have to upgrade the factory "upgraded shocks" that cost 1k more than the standard set up. Man, I'm happy I bought the standard model. It rode beautiful last winter and only bottomed with two people on and even then it was minor. The only negative is the R/A set up.

I'm interested as well with the Hygear upgrades. Their customer service is outstanding and on my old sled , they revalved and resprung my Olin's electronic. The best single mod ever I made to that sled!!! And if someone can take a great product and make it better then I'm all for it!!! Keep us posted mr sled.

I have that front end set-up on mine and it made a nice improvment. Much better over the small stutter stuff and guards against bottoming.Running overall lower PSI that helps flatter cornering too.

I agree, I think the Mega Float for Yamaha is an 06 Apex all over again... they need to figure out how to get the ride right without bottoming... if you ride a standard 11 Apex, you know they have that solved.

Funny u mention leak. As soon as I installed my new air kit and turned it on....every fitting, and I do mean every fitting that was preassembled at ulmers, was leaking! I could just watch the air bubbles coming thru all the sealant they had used. Which meant I had to cut every hose fitting I just hooked up and take off all the fitting, disassemble, and reseal all fittings they made. What an unfortunate waste of time. It holds air now. I suggested to Allen to maybe QC all his fittings before shipping to customers. He should b able to set up a test rig for his product. It will save his customers a boat load of time and aggravation!!! But so far the kit is holding up and I like the convenience of adjustment as I did w my Olin's
