Hygear twisted springs

During a shock refresh when shock is apart they can be installed. The Accelerated Tech ones are same way. They should have told you.
They didn't tell me anything and there was nothing in the box. What sucks is that I just had the front shocks done this morning (locally). This will definitely make me think twice about ever buying from Hygear again. This #*$&@ pisses me off.

Doea the plastic shock body protector need to removed as well (cut off)? If so, I likely will not run this setup. I have no idea if that part is easy enough to get a replacement for and I had also planned on going back to my stock springs if I didn't like the Hygear or if I didn't notice a substantial ride difference.

Man that definitely sucks

I have just went threw this on my shocks in the instructions they sent said that lower eye might have to be removed and same thing with plastic sleeve and can be reinstalled. I called them up and talked to gentleman on phone I was upset because I just got m shocks redone QS3R and explained to him that. He said if I had time he could coach me threw it I was at work he told me how to remove eye and took me 20 min to do both shocks.

Yes you have to remove the plastic piece as the crossover slides there. There is 0 way to accomplish this on any shock without removing those pieces. Just remove them and enjoy the ride. They are like $2 each and if you take these springs off and out stock back in they aren’t necessary either.

Also, I’ve had the axis shocks on front of my sidewinder awhile. I had 175lb main springs I felt It would be better with but all the company’s send 150. I got Elkas this year before I could change to the 175lb spring, come to find out the Elkas has a 175 lb spring on them when I got them as main spring. 60/175 I believe is the actual ones on front of Elkas.

How much crossover gap is let on those Elkas with that light tender spring?

Hygear did the same to me. Steve, who owes me nothing, is the one who took the time and explained to me it needed to be taken apart.

Accelerated Tech at least where up front with this when I called. I should of went with them.

On the up side, I beleive you will like this dual spring setup. I have 330km on them so far and love it.

How did you get the plastic sleeve off? Or... did you just cut it and buy new ones?

Used a zip tie fed it between the sleeve and groove
Work it all around and pops off
Takes patience but works for me did several shocks like this or you can use a pic but I like my way better clamp shock eye (mount in vice)

I don’t have a pic or I would post it

I'll ask my local shock guy if he has a way that he has done it before... or I will give him these suggestions. Thanks.

I thought they would be cheap to replace if they were just cut off but it appears they are $30-$40/ea.

Sorry let me clarify. I thought it was 60lb it’s 73 lb rate (just did calculations). No it’s not tender spring rate it’s the combined stack rate. And crossover is actually very small once at ride height. In the 1/4” range.

Ahh that makes sense! Thanks.
