I hear a whistle sound in my gas tank? And my fuel cap also wants to blow off.

Most modern fuel tanks use a low pressure inlet relief valve and possibly higher outlet pressure in either the filler cap or in this case the vent. It is part of evaporative emissions and believe it or not it is a good thing. A tank or can that breathes freely while at rest will tend to collect moisture sour the fuel.

With all due respect, if you don't properly treat your gasoline it may go bad anyway. So what happens over the summer when the fuel expands......will it crack the tank because you didn't relieve the pressure?

Sleds have been open vented for eons. I get the EPA/??? issue but c'mon man!

If you take the gas cap of the sled while idling it will spit and sputter eventually. It must need some sort of pressure/vacuum build up but not too much.

Im fairly certain all modern Fuel injection systems need a carefully vented/sealed type fuel system. Open vented fuel tanks of past are from old technology back in carb days i believe.

Nope....sealing the fuel system lowers hydrocarbon emissions. Matter a fact PCV or positive crankcase ventilation was introduced in the 60's and charcoal canisters were introduced in the 70's. The fuel system was sealed and fuel vapor was stored in the canister to be burned by the engine lowering emissions and these cars had carbs. Now they are even better sealed and tested by the onboard OBD constantly for leaks. There are check valves in the filler necks for rollover protection also. Fuel injection with a in tank pump do have sumps to keep the pump immersed in fuel.

This makes sense. I rode 650 miles on my brand new winder on the weekend. the first fill up, i went to take the gas cap off and it popped right off once it was loose! I thought "oh sh!t, here we go!" but i had no issues or codes whatsoever. 6 or 7 fill ups now and each time i take the cap off it does relieve pressure in the tank but i have seen no ill-effects. so, gas on baby!!

Yep....they are even cracking down on lawnmowers.

Yep, the EPA is also trying to figure out a way to capture " COW FARTS ". Glad to see that is one of their biggest concerns. LOL

Older Skidoo Rev Chassis does the same

Believe it or not, methane from cows is one of the BIGGEST emissions problems we have...now if we get them to whistle (like our gas tanks) then we could at least dance every time they "float an air biscuit"...
