Inline Fuel Filter

It seems I might have some crude in my tank and my carbs keep getting clogged. In addition to cleaning my tank out can I put an inline fuel filter to prevent something like this from happening again.

I'm curious also and having the same issues as you but I think its just bad gas.

I've been the only owner of my sled and always took great care for it and this year I didn't start it up during the off season as much as I have in the past and noticed more plugged jets. Every time I clean them 2 of the 3 are plugged. First time they were fully plugged. Second time sled ran awesome for a few days then sounded funny so I checked and 2 were partially plugged. I think if I clean them once more I'm hoping the bad gas should be out of the system by now. I did syphon the tank out and put in fresh gas before even cleaning them but its almost imposible for me to get every bit of old gas out. Now the sled runs and idles but if I blip the throttle it will hang at that idle for about a second or 2 and ten come back down to normal idle range. I have a feeling its a jet again. I did sync my carbs and all 3 were off so now they are in spec so I kow its not that.

If there is an easy filter fix to prevent this in the future I'd do it to save some extra hastle and time.

The reason I ask is because a friend of mine who is a mechanic and artic cat dealer had suggested it to me. I trust him and if he says it will work it should but I just wanted to see if anyone else has done it before. He says the only way to clean the tank properly is to tear it out and wash it out with clean gas a few times. but if you put a filter inline as close to your fuel pump as you can you should have no problems and the crap will get deposited into your filter. Yes you will have to change your filter every now and then but for the sake of a $2-$5 filter is it not worth it?

After further investigation it appears that some of us may already have fuel filters in our tanks. Mine shows 2 on the micro fiche

I'm of the opinion that crap gas will put deposits just about anywhere gas is. So just where do we put a filter? The filter in the tank should be OK for our needs. I'm reading more and more about fuel related problems with anything that uses this junk they are shoving down our throats @ exuberant prices. Then on top of the over priced junk we pump, we have to buy additives up the wazoo just to do what the gas is supposed to do in the first place!!!!! :die
Sorry, I had too vent.

I had the same issues this summer, Jets plugged, Cleaned carbs 3 times, drained the tank. I hve tank filters also. I installed two inline filters ( Nappa) one in each line between tank and fuel pump and havent noticed any issue's so far this year. I can't think you can have enough filteration now with the crappy gas! There seems to be alot more sediment or particles in the fuel now.

Could you please post a picture(s) of your filter installation?

Here look close to the steering colum. I bought the see threw style and look at them to see what the fuel looks like.
