I dropped my 09 Nytro XTX off at the dealer to have the upper ball joints replaced under warranty as they were loose and to check why the front right shock seamed to not be centered in the A arm. I have never hit anything with this machine which is obvious by looking over it as there is no damage from any impact. I did however catch the right carbide slightly while loading it into the trailer at a very low speed one time.

-Would this bend an A arm INSTEAD of bending the subframe???

-How can I be sure it isn't the subframe that is bent?

-I was quoted $400 CAN for a new lower A Arm (uninstalled)!!! Where is the cheapest place to purchase this part?

Thanks for any help!

I have ordered from these guys...they will ship USPS...I also checked out Port Yamaha and they wanted $244

This should be covered with your warranty.
Did the Dealer have a rep from Yamaha take a look at your sled?

I highly doubt this will be covered under warranty. Not many warranties cover bent parts unless the part got bent as a direct result of the failure of a warrantied item.

I had an issue last year.
Long story.
End result.
Bent alot of stuff, RH side was replaced near end of season.
New arms came with ball joints, bushings etc. as an assembly.
LH side was left alone.
Fixed back on the snow in one week.
I'm happy and the fix took place during one of our famous (lose all the snow) one week Ontario meltdowns.

So... still with me?
This fall I pull out the sled to get ready.
RH side arms are perfect, tight, no slop in the spindle etc.
Everything lines up nice the shock looks good and sitting in the correct position.
LH side not touched with a full 3000k, worn out ball joints and a-arm bushings.
Alot of slop in the spindle and the shock is not located well.
It looks too far farward or that the dealer missed the fact that I bent the LH lower arm too.
I was a little upset at first.
You have to understand, the dealer was deep into an front end rebuild.
Why didn't they call me and ask if I was willing to put up my own money for new bushings and ball joints for the LH side while it was all appart .

Anyway...
So, I figure it's just what happends to these sleds after one season.
The front end wears out bushings and ball joints real fast.
Plus I can see how much slop is in the LH side vs a new RH side.

Nuts...
I can't ride a sled with one good side and the other all sloppy.
So, I take it all appart.
Put in Olite arm bushings all LH and RH and new ball joints in the sloppy LH side.
Now I have a tight front end again.
Both shocks line up nice and look positiond well.

So...
What I'm saying is.
Check your arms yourself with a flat straight edge.
If they are bent you will see curves.
Otherwise you have a bunch of worn out bushings and ball joints.

I hope this story helps others understand the front end issues of the Nytro.
Also, why you see some Sno-cross sleds with complete different front end set ups.

Thanks guys for your help.
I ended up ordering a new A arm through Don George's (Yamaha dealer in Buffalo) for $244. I am going to drive down and pick it up when it comes in. They seamed very helpful with good prices and are close which saves the shipping costs.
The A arm is definitely bent, the dealer took it all apart and compared the two sides. They are replacing all of the bushings, all of the ball joints and re-installing everything under warranty except the a arm.
Although I am not happy about it bending without actually hitting anything they have been pretty decent about things. The good news is it gives me a chance to easily have everything powder coated!! I do wish I could have replaced the factory bushings with Ulmer's but I guess that will have to wait.
