Hey guys. Looking into buying a phazer for a back up sled and for something that'd reliable. I was wondering if I could get 100+HP without a turbo. All opinions are great. Thanks

Nitrous or supercharger would be the only way.

I think the 90-95hp range is very achievable, 100+ probibly isnt going to be cost effective. Aaen exhaust, modified airbox (Ulmer racing), and a fuel controller is the easy stuff and should be 90-95hp. After that you need to port the head (4-5hp) and custom ground cams. to get you past 100hp. You can free up track HP though with a clutch kit, loose track, extrovert drivers, and setting the skid back 3" and installing a 128x13.5 AC track. I wouldn't want to do any mods that need increased RPMs to make power though as the rods are the weak spot in these engines and no one makes aftermarket ones. Quite a few turbo sleds have busted rods and I had one come through the case on my N/A phazer. Mine is the first naturally aspirated phazer to snap a rod with no cause, other have snapped from oil starvation.

You'd spend a lot of money on it to get close.

I think 90hp with intake, exhaust, & fuel is believable
2 areas that make a HUGE difference are traction & clutching
Stock track is a joke without studs or just get a Freeride 1.5"
There is so much performance over stock clutching it is just ridiculous
No matter what you do top speed is just not the Phazer's strong point
So much fun to drive though!

80hp out of 500cc is alot IMO think if it was a 2L like alot of cars it would have 320hp
A honda S2000 has lots of HP for a 2L and its only got 240hp i think
If i do anything it will be clutching and new track like posted above.

Apparently you can see nearly 100mph on the dream-o-meter.
If you want a simple one-stop shop just get exhaust, gearing & clutching from Schmidt Bros. I have the Power Commander & not sure it was worth the $$
I have all the mods & only get 82mph flat out on a lake so go figure??

I have a 07 MTX with a 1.75" X 144" Back Country track so my goal is different than top end. I am searching for more track speed under load in off trail riding. I have an Aaen pipe with complete exhaust White Lightning coated, my own mod air box. The throttle response is great with no hesitation or popping so no fuel controller needed. I beleive the reason for no fuel controller needed in my case is a higher exhaust gas temprature causing a richer A/F mixture. This is proven on Dynotech Research website with higher higher exhaust gas temprature.
I am in the process of working on a 2lb boost system like the Yamcharger for the Apex. The dyno results on the Yamcharger Apex was 151 HP stock to 171 HP a 20 HP increase. The Phazer has everything you need except the 2lbs of boost at the throttle body. If you can gain 10 HP with a 2lb boost + the add ons mentioned above we would see about 100HP is where we all want to be. When I get it done I will get it dynoed to prove the results.

I've been looking into a low boost setup also, One could use a VERY small turbo, 5psi, with NO INTERCOOLER, and still be 91 octane happy and do it for pretty cheap. This would also eliminate quite a bit of the turbo lag other phazer kits have since it would have a lot less piping to pressurize and a quicker spooling turbo. 5psi would be ~25hp gain and would probably be able to be controlled by a fuel controller on the the stock fuel system with no need for extra injectors, OR maybe a fuel pump upgrade + boost referenced fuel pressure regulator. I really think one of these turbo companies could easily build this of system, AND turn good PROFIT, for under 2500$. I think they would sell more "Pump gas friendly" 105hp kits at a reasonable 2500$ then they EVER sold of the 140hp "race fuel required" 4500$ kits.
