Max spool 16 & 8jp question

Really what hp is ms16 supposed to be ?
260-270 but remember TD uses 212hp as stock baseline where I believe Dave uses 188hp so probably closer to a 240 hurricane tune. Doesnt matter at the end of the day I guess but generates some confusion sometimes when people talk about how much weight they are slinging around.

In my case I liked the 66gram base with weight added to be better but I think youll be okay with 70's but likely empty. Depends on your weight and track and secondary setup etc.
It makes sense as a good starting point. If it's close, but still low, I'll change the primary to Blu/Wht/Blu
Thanks...

Run the xs belt and never look back, I just changed mine out with 8900 km on it, still looked good but it was time for a new one.
I know it’s not apples to apples but with hurricanes 240 SS tune we run the Dalton black/red primary which drops engagement rpm’s a bit, Dalton black/orange secondary, qay 70g empty, xs belt and sled runs perfect.

You can spin the weights empty with a 35 helix. If running the 35/39, chances are it will pull low on topend.

Right on.... empty it is.

I agree here. My 8JP lasted 1000 miles stock. I got 3,500 miles out of my first XS belt running MS16.

What am I doing wrong, I have over 7000 km om my 8jp belt and it's only half way worn by the specs. I also have the max spool 16 tune all along.

Nothing , the 8JP is just a dirty belt that tends to slip a lot. Your clutches must be set up well . 7000 on any belt is very good but do yourself a favour and change it, it’s due.

Thanks, I will change it as I have a new one. I also have experience with belt exploding at high speed. That was before alignment issues were figured out.

I won't even run my 8DNs more then a season or 2500 miles/4000 km. I then keep them for spares for the Vmax or my 72 Moto Ski since I have converted my 72 Moto Ski to run an 8DN as well.
On the Apex, like the SW , I only use new 8DNs.
One belt type for the entire fleet.:)

Hey Fab, do you find that dalton black orange makes your secondary smoking hot? I ran it last year for a bit and found I couldn't put my hand on my secondary for any amount of time, 240ss tune with xs825 and QAY 70's empty and straight 35 helix, I was afraid to hold it wide open. I told myself it had to be from my offset, swapped it for the TP orange and that seemed to help. Fast forward to this year, machined 2mm off the secondary and decided to try the B/O at 6-2 again last week in Kap and still finding the secondary extremely hot. Sled worked great mid range but i was afraid to open it up on the lakes because of the secondary temps. I swapped out the XS for a Gates Redline and it didn't help. I'm thinking about swapping out the 70's for DTAY-1's and going back to 8JP. I'm running the Dalton Black /Green in the primary.

How do you like Blk/grn I found it a little aggressive for trail riding tight twisty. My Favourite one was Blk/red but I also was tuned for 270SS but thought work d good on my 240SS and my 300SS. Clutch’s got warm/hot on long pulls.

Fab and I run the the same set up and belt temps are really low after a good run . We are using the stock 35/39 helix at 6/1 but with a black/red primary spring which has a lower engagement and finish rate. Fab runs his wieghts empty and I for some reason have the 1/4" weight in my heel because it hit the limiter on low speed take offs. 4000km on my XS belt and looks like new
