Thanks! I am not trying to piss anyone off without having anything to say... Really... The funny thing is that I sometimes piss people off anyway, Some people just can't handle the truth...
Thanks for the input... I believe the phazer mtn will be GREAT... In deep snow, you actually want the sled to respond well, I think the Phazer will work just fine! Other's can decide, I am no mountain guy... I am not as optimistic about the trail versions though... But I haven't ridden one... Newtonian laws just make me a little bit sceptic...
I am sure people will love the Phazer, I just don't want people to get something they don't expect... That's it, My advise is, test some sleds before deciding... Don't trust rumours and what you read in mags aso... People will buy and love the Phazer anyway... For sure...

KingBongo said:I am not trying to stir trouble. Just want to make sure that people know what they are buying. Previous four-stroke Yammis haven't been the great ditch bangers or trail machines some have told people they would be. In an annual sled test in Sweden, the 3-cyl and 4-cyl got spanked soooo bad.
A basic newtonian law states that a mass tries to strive outwards in the turns, centripetal force. Since the Phazer is not too heavy, this might not be the main issue.
The main issue is instead that if the center of gravity is high, a moment is the result, trying to overturn the sled in corners.
That is what people are facing. Just want to straighten out the facts. I am sick of people getting tricked!
I actually haven't ridden the phazer, but I know some physics! Just saying that people should try the Phazer before buying it... I wouldn't buy it before that...
Kudos to you for trying to save people from themselves and their impulse buying.
Got a link for your sweedish sled test?
How much higher do you THINK the CGH is or do you have some numbers?
Got any CGH numbers from the REV platform?
You can't have a big bump sled and have it rail the corners, two different set-ups.
I have the same seat time as Viper Dave on the Phazers (actually, twice as much, I did two tours) ,and the sled is nothing short of fantastic. I tip the scales at 250lbs, with another 20HP, Dave and I would both be buying one.

Guys,
Please do not be too upset about the guy that calls himself "KingBongo".
The guy think his mission of life is to market the two stroke engine by telling everybody how useless the fourstroke engine is and how much drawbacks the four stroke engine introduces into the snowmobile chassis.
The guy already made a fool of himself at the swedish SnowRider forum by posting clearly incorrect and misleading information about four stroke engines, by posting loads of strange opinions about snowmobiles that he has never ridden, by clearly showing that he has got very limited experience of snowmobile riding in general and by behaving very rude and aggressively towards people that argue him.
At the swedish SnowRider forum he is right now busy telling everybody that he will post similar information also in here.
On the behalf of my countrymen, I am sorry that he eventually found this forum.

Actually I have NO numbers, that is the main problem. All I can ask for is that people DO TRY all sleds before they buy it... If possible run with other sleds on the same time. It is really sad when people buy something expensive and get disappointed... Of course that is equally valid for all brands and sleds...
Unfortunatly I do not have the swedish test on the web, but in a snowmobile mag. Unfortunately, I think it is the only test in the world where such a great trail-test has been performed.
Alatalo:
You know that what I am talking about is PHYSICS! It has absolutely nothing to do with 2-stroke vs. 4-strokes at this point! Nothing. It is really sad that you use the same technique like you use in the swedish forum, attacks with absolutely nothing to back them up with.
People can decide if they want to believe me or not, or if I am rude or aggressive or something else. Just telling them the truth. All I can hope for is that people actually try sleds before buying. It is best for us all. And believe me, I am a nice guy.

Alatalo, Thanks for your response. Just goes to show you that no mater the country, there are always those who can't be objective. I have never responded to ANYONE in the way I did his post. There are a few diehard "if it ain't BLUE, I won't ride it" types here. BUT, for the most part we are an objective group. I don't own a 4-stroke now, but will by fall. I have ridden all the Yamaha 4-strokes, with the exception of the Viking. I strive to post only what i KNOW, not what I guess at. Far too many times I have witnessed erroneous statements posted on both sites. There are many wise and informed people on both sites, and they are the ones that KNOW when to post a response to these kinds of posts. Again, thank you for filling us in on this persons reputation. I apologize for snapping at him, but I feel he had it coming. To everyone, have a good day.

Who here rides a snowmobile going into any turn without some bit of leaning? Try going around a turn on a Goldwing, bicycle or any other rec. vehicle and see if an outward force trys pulling you in that direction regardless of how top heavy you are. Is it not necessary to lean inside to counteract this on any of these rides?
Regardless of being a new model, it's simply my opinion that one must lean to keep from rolling in the opposite direction on anything and the amount of lean is dependant upon the speed of the vehicle.
Your passion of using Newtonian Law applies to everything. While the Phazer may sit the rider higher, who in their right mind is going to sit straight up and allow inertia to pull you in a direction not conducive to keeping ones health up to par?
From your first post with reference to riding a bicycle, I'd love to see you taking a corner at a good clip without leaning. Your fanny pack better have lots of gauze handy.
And.....thanks for the advice, but I'm sure I'll do quite well on the new Phazer I ordered but have never ridden.

Absolutely true! But you cannot lean a Snowmobile like you can with a two-wheeler... Ski-Doo did not get the front down on the -06 Rev without a cause... People are getting less tired from riding then...
I am sure people will loooooooooove the Phazer, no doubt! I believe on the straights it will be awesome, for sure... And that is what people have been reporting... I am sure you will love your's as well,
But the fact remains: It is virtually impossible to build a sled that can take on 10 feet moguls and at the same time have flat cornering. The best one can do is to make a good compromise. Else one has to make a choise.

That's my point exactly. This applies to all snowmobiles, so I'm just wondering why you're focusing on the Phazer as possibly being a subpar performer? This little sled will probably have the capabilities to be ridden hard just like most all of the other sleds out there. Afterall, every machine takes rider effort to coax hard around corners.

KingBongo said:I would be very surpised if any stock 600 does not smoke the Phazer Turbo if the trail has any curves at all! 100% sure...
The Phazer will most likely behave like a bicycle, unfortunately a bicycle you cannot lean inwards... Turbo plus intercooler makes this even worse!
Turbo and intercooler make it wose?

Point is... I do NOT know! Just try all new sleds, that's all,
Alf:
At least it does not lower the center of gravity, or concentrate the mass more, right? But I really think that effect can be neglected, it does only weight a little, some mass is removed too... I think the benefits from a Turbo really will dominate when added...

Well that pretty much sums it up. You DON"T know, so be quiet. End of story. Every time you open your mouth you're digging a deeper hole, and looking more foolish. Cut your losses man, and go post somewhere else. Oops, I guess you already tried that..........

Well i rode one and loved it. I loved it so much i am coming from a IQ 800- mod sled. The sled ripps for cornering and i feel more comfortable on the phaze then i do on a vector, why, less weight and rider forward positioning. Its obvious you havent ridden one because if you had you wouldnt be saying any of this at all. Have a nice life bingo. or bongo, whatever.

i sat on the one they had at the local yamafest in feb/mar. it wasnt allowed out on the test rides so that is all we did. it felt like i was sittin on my xt 350 whitch is what a rev feels like when i sit on it. the rev i drove i found i had to "english" the corners more than my sxr 500 to keep the inner ski on the ground. as the sxr was bent up that weekend i was riding betsy (et410) and everone knows you gotta lean them old pogos too to get around the corners.
it would probably work really well for me as i am a very active rider (as in always leaning the corners) but as i had fallen in llove with the rx1 torque curve and fuel milage i bought a rx warrior. the turbo might have done it for me as well but i am happy with my choice.
