The thing that bothers me is, one off my buds that I go sledding with has a 2018 xtx with over 2000 kms running a 270 race tune and has not had any problems at all. He is just shaking his head with the issue that I am having.

Well the dealer that I took my sled to will not do anything for me. He said just keep driving and monitor losses! WTH!! I spoke with other dealers in Alberta and they are sure that it is the head gasket with the issue that I am having. Even though my sled is still under warranty, my dealer wants me to pay for the repairs. Hugh? What the hell is warranty for.

I'm waiting for that call as well, least yours is stock. Did they do a leak down test, and coolant sniffer? Mine were all clean and if the head gasket was bad you would think it would show up there. If I was out of warranty or if they deny me I will probably change the headgasket and upgrade the head studs myself then its ready for some real boost. Good luck and keep us updated!

As far as I know, all they did was a pressure test on the coolant system at 20lbs for 2-3 hrs (so they say). No coolant sniffer or leak down. I drained my oil last night and no sign off coolant in the oil.
I personally think that the head bolts are not torqued to spec and possibly the head is slightly warped from the day I bought the sled. That was when I tested the coolant and it was straight anti-freeze and the sled heated up (boiled) quicker that a pot off water on the stove over 230+ when I shut it down. It gurgled many times and was not the turbo.

I borrowed a coolant tester (pressurized the tank) from my brother. I brought it up to 20 lbs myself for 2 hrs. No drop in pressure. Ran in to Canadian tire and bought a compression tester w/ 10mm attachment. Each cylinder was even at 160lbs( 10 compression strokes) Took it for a ride a rode it hard. Temp never got higher than 172. Waiting to cool down and check fluid levels again. See what happens.

Hey laidback,is your sled kept in garage or outside overnight.Asking because I had the disappearing coolant also.2 different dealers here in sask pressure tested and could not find any leaks .what I found was as soon as it got cold out -20c and sled left outside antifreeze would leak from tunnel heat exchanger hose and down onto drivers making it very hard to find.Even with pics of antifreeze leaking and tank empty dealers would not do anything because by yamaha's policy if held pressure during test there was no leaks. The biggest issue was it only leaked when it was cold and not in warm shop during pressure test.Even though dealer knew where it was leaking would not do anything do to not being paid for the warranty work of pulling tank etc. off to tighten hose clamps. Was told by one mechanic off the record that yamaha would only pay a .1 hr to tighten clamps even though takes about 2-2.5 hrs.I do not know if this could be your issue but thought would throw it out there.good luck

I totally agree with you on the hot and cold. 95% off the time stays in my shop which is warm. I checked every hose clamp and some were not really tight so I snugged them up. I even dropped my track to check every think under the tunnel and checked for cracks and even pin holes. Absolutely nothing leaking. I even left my sled outside my garage when it was -45 for a whole day and started it, got it hot and shut it down to cool off. No difference. No leaks anywhere. At least none that I could see.

mine was doing exact same thing, they found the hose joining the heat exchanger under the tunnel by driver was damaged but said seen some that were loose. bad design as ice chunksd can come and destroy that hose, mine had small slice with pin hole. Great thing is no protection so can happen again. and best part need to drill out the heat exchangers to pull back to get the new hose on, big job really.and i still seem to be adding a bit once in a while.

Schraders has been doing some testing. I had a bad clamp coming out off my heat exchanger. Clamp was sitting crooked and not very snug. I straightened it this morning and tighten it back up. Went for 47 mile run before noon and no loss in coolant so far. Hopefully this was the issue.
