I have just installed a 2006 Apex Mono Skid in my 03 RX1 and wow, best investment so far. Still need to trail test it, but just riding around the house shows a huge improvement....

I cannot exactly tell you, I spent alot of time polishing and prep work. If I had to give and exact time, I would say a good day to do all. I was waiting on parts also, so I was doing a little at a time..

i just put a 136' sc10111in my 03. omg!!! Did 200 miles yesterday, 500% better than that no-action garbage it came with. Were did u get those sweet exaust tips?
The tips are OEM, I just high speed polished them...enjoy the new skid, anything is better than the pro-not action skid.. :4STroke:

I just put one in my buddies 03 last week and we took it out on friday and did 100 miles on various types of trials. It is set on the hightest spring tension and still bottoms out a bit but it is 100 % better than the stock unit. I have the Bender re-action suspension on mine we weigh within 10 lbs of each other and I can't make mine bottom out. He got a good deal though I sold him the suspension off a wrecked Apex with only 700 miles on it along with the studded ripsaw track. the only thing we had to buy was the tunnel plates and rivets because I left the old ones with the tunnel when I sold it. The sled hooks up much better and is so much easier on the back now. I recommend this for anyone with a little bit of mechanial knowledge. It can be done in 2 to 3 nights with a track swap out and if bought right can extend the usable life of a sled for less than a grand.

No, I did not weigh the skid before installing it. I should have but had to much other crap on my mind. I do believe I did shave at least 10 pounds from it.

If you look at the suspension from Bender, it exactly the same as the factory mono, except they use chrome-moly steel and a better shock. i was looking at this set-up at a snow show and was too costly for the bottom dollar. If they introduced it in a complete skid then I would have considered it. I got my mono off ebay for 710 buck plus other parts to do the install. I am only 155 lbs, but I ride hard. Have to wait and see. Thanks for the imput.. :letsnow:

spring

the 05 skid is nice but it needs a spring up grade just like the 06 did. the next spring up is the 6.5 kg spring then theres the 7.0 kg spring as well. ;)!

This is NOT a 05 skid, it is a 2006 skid. Thanks about the spring info. I want to ride first.... :die :hide:

skid upgrade

Im 300 lbs + gear. My sled rides like a cloud, and no kick back either.I dont miss one thing about my OEM no-action garbage 121'. My dads riding buddie has a 06 attack and we switched up for a few miles in the stutter bumps. The sc10111 doo skid rode twice as nice as his 06 attack. I really think yamaha needs to rethink their suspension program. It is really behind. I rode a 08 xp and trust me yamis r way behind, but hey the 4 stroke is hands down the best engine, and i wouldnt trade it for any other motor out there. Thats why i now ride a "Yama-doo"!! Think snow!!!

I put a 06 mono in my 03 RX-1 last year, best money I have spent on the sled so far! mine was bottoming out easy last year so I sent the shock to pioneer performance and WOW! this thing rocks I have it on full soft and did not bottom once last weekend! Send your shock to Bruce and you will be very happy.

Boatman, Im looking to buy the swaybar and links here after the holidays from pioneer, did u see a noticable difference with their front end package with the springs?

Huge difference! The thing is so much more planted up front. I got the 11mm bar but i wish I would have gone to the 12 but you need 04-05 links for that.
