What angle helix u guys running in the turbo sleds? Got weights and all kinds of springs and helix available, just looking for a good starting point. On a side note, hats off to u guys at mpi..this kit is awesome! The fit and finish and attention to detail is amazing! I wish they had you guys building the actual sleds too..not specifying that towards the viper, just yamahas in general. Can't wait to get some ride time on this sled now..I'm sure I'll be wondering why I waited a full year to do the turbo.

Thanks for the kind words!! We don't get crazy with the helix. I think its easy to get carried away with a big helix just to put a soft spring in it. We've been running 41 maybe a 43 on the MTX depending on the altitude. On the trail sleds maybe a 43 to 45.

Thanks Matt, actually been wondering too if that's the best route to go. Will hafta pull stuff apart and see what we ended up with last year but I believe it was a 43 or 45. Only other question, is there any literature or anything on the gems controller? Looked over the packet and didn't see anything unless there was something else I didn't see.

Do you have a AFR gauge? If not no need to change it. Without a gauge its hard to know what you need to do. It's setup to be on the safe side. I'm going to have a better way to explain how to adjust it.

Yes I have afr gauge. On the 7000 D&D did Dale said it was pretty well spot on just needed one minor tweak so good to know. How hard have you pushed this kit without head shim and studs. Obviously 5.5-6 pounds is what you're shooting for but have u turned up the boost and ran it on the dyno to see what it can really take?

5-6 is max on pump gas. Just because some guys run Nytro's over that doesn't mean you can do this on the Viper. The Viper uses a Cat ECU which has more timing. You can push this turbo to 12# on race gas and the motor would be just fine. The problem is the fuel pump and injectors can't support that without being changed. I don't think you need studs at 12# but if your doing a shim then its a no brainer to do it at the same time.

So if someone was able to reflash this ecu and detune timing would you feel comfortable running say 8# on pump fuel? At 180-190hp I'm sure it's a blast and a very competitive sled but if you can safely run in the 200-210hp range on a completely stock engine and pump fuel I'm sure that extra 20hp would be very noticeable. Not questioning the testing that I'm sure you've already done but like everyone I'm really looking for best bang for the buck

Lol...I don't think the stock fuel pump will do much more than 6 pounds. Lmao maybe you should run it a little bit before all the changes...lol

I hear ya..haven't even drove it yet and I want more lol. The 7000 I've spoke of some, when they dynoed it I believe the head gasket blew at 14 pounds. They kept slowly going up from 6 pounds but never did anything with fuel pump or injectors
Forget the head shim if you are going to all the trouble to open the motor install low compression pistons, carillo rods and then do the fuel pump & waste gate upgrade. 12#'s is crazy but 9 is a lot of fun
Besides that you will never have to change your carbides cause the skis never touch the ground - just think of the savings!!!

Ill try and get more info posted in a new thread on my XTX that we did with his Performer #4 package (clutching, intake, exhaust, Power Commander).
