Mrsled,
Just got back from a 700 mile ride on a rented rev 600. I found that I really liked this sled. I almost hate to admit it since I have ordered a GT.
I found that you could run the rev down a trashed out railroad bed at 70 with no problem. When I say thrashed I mean 12-15 in. moguls. I also found this sled very easy to ride fast through tight groomed wood trails.
Have you ever ridden a rev fast and hard? If so does the Gt compare. I know the GT is going to be around 100 pounds heavier. What are your thoughts. Thanks

ive ridden my buddys 800 rev this year and it doesnt compare to my viper in any situation, stutters, moguls, cornering, but i do have an expert-x in my viper and i think he needs to do some tweaking on his suspension

Mr Sled,
Do you know if the spring on the Ohlin's rear shock (ApexGT) is stiffer than the spring on the standard monoshock? I am somewhat heavier (250# dressed) and needed to replace the spring on my 05 RX-1, but heard the spring on the Ohlin's is stiffer. Do you know if this is the case?

Yes, the Ohlins spring is suppose to have a stiffer rate with firmer valving....I am #260 and the GT I tested in the Feb demo ride worked perfect.

Very important, give it some thought.
Of all the sleds you have ever ridden, how would you rate the Apex at cornering.
Compare to your SRX for example and other sleds that you thought railed.
Bob put 260 miles on your prototype BTW. He could not believe how well it cornered with those wimpy carbides.
Only thing he did not like is that they took away the warm up light.
He wants a compass.

I felt it cornered flat and to me it is as good as a Viper or SRX, but this is also just my opinion. Also it has a warm up light when its cold it just goes off quite a bit faster then the RX1.

I understand you installed the Yamaha heavier rear spring on your RX-1. How did you like it? How much firmer did the ride get? And do you think that spring will work on the 06' Ohlin EC rear shock? Were you able to draw any comparison between the Ohlin and your RX-1 with the stiffer spring?

Mr Sled,
Do you think the GT will be too stiff for lighter riders? I am 190lbs, All the guys who like the ride are heavier then me? Maybe the pre load can be turned down and that will do it? Your thoughts?

Bob,I think you will be fine most likely be able to turn the compression down and take some of the preload off the shocks.
The heavier spring will not work on the Ohlins but I have heard they may have a heavier spring available for the 06 EC ohlins.
The heavy spring made a world of difference for me on my 05 and really thing that 220+ riders will need it on the 06s based on the sleds I rode this year. The ride was quite a bit firmer to the point where the stutters bumps where more noticeable...but as far as resistant to bottoming it worked great!!

Mr Sled,
Forgot to add, I am coming off a SX 700 with M-10. The thing rides great! I am hoping to get the same ride or better? with 4-stroke technology!

So basically then the GT is a better set-up for big guys with a stiffer valving and spring than the supposed big bump sled the RTX. Right?
