Any ideas on how to get my hands on a set of these?
Bob Weaver. But they are just trickling in. Gotta get on the list and call in some favors if you want a set this year. I think I got the third set that came in.

I am def. going to be trying these next yr. Put on 2 sets of hy fax this yr already in 1000 miles. they have to pay for themselves even if they go 2000 miles!

I dont understand what you guys are doing to these hyfax...im on season 3...2000miles on the stockers. plenty of meat there still and alot of places i ride are low snow. expecially this year.

I burn through mine every 300 miles or so. I am putting a set of the dupont on now.

I'm with you on this too. Mine will easily last 2K miles and my skid is all stock.
Mine wear out fast until about 20% left. Really don't like unloading for a long ride with the so close. I know they are SUPPOSED to last a long time at that point but....

Don't think it's as much the low snow but all the stones dirt mixed up in the old snow. Plus all the trails that are along roads and all the snow is melted or just ice. Most years I get 1000-1800 miles on a set but it wasn't the case this year. Not a issue any longer with these. My buddy has burned through 2 sets of hyfax on his free ride and my duponts barely show any wear. Can't explain it but just facts with the conditions do far this year.

I had changed my factory ones for the start of this season. I got 2100km's out of my factory set, and I'm at around 500kms on this set. They wear out waaaay more in certain spots than others - like about half way down the lengths of the rails is my soft spot where it burns through it. I'm pretty good about finding snow to play on. I called my dealership about the Duponts and they said something about 100/pair per week from Yamaha Canada and that they had a dozen pair on order since the fall and hadn't seen them yet. Here's to hoping - even if they're on my ride for next year. Like most have said - peace of mind! (and they're cheaper than the wheel kit, which I think looks pretty odd since it doesn't come with matching bigger wheels for the back).

Your SIG says 4th wheel, which I am assuming is in the back, however it may help in holding the track off. If the track was going to "belly" in the middle or something, maybe...... Just a thought, probably wrong.
I rode this past weekend in literally 10/10 conditions. No dirt, mud, nothing. Pure snow, groomed trails with like 3-4 inches of fluff on top. Snowmobiler's dream.
How fast do you ride on average? Maybe your just not heating them up. Maybe faster riders burn them up? :exc:

I know this is directed at Groomer, but I kind of wondered how long until someone would ask this question. My sled is being pushed hard. I too am running the 4th wheel and have my track tension set to the loose end of the spec with no racheting. 1500 miles on the current set of hyfax.

Yamatario, I see you have x wheels are you still seeing premature slider wear? Or are you just wanting to put the new sliders on and never change them again?

Don't think you can ride it harder then I do. I ran mine as loose as I could. It's mostly all in the conditions. You could have a half inch of snow as long as its loose and lubricate the slides your fine. We have been on rides this year and you ride 20 miles and stop and there I'd zero snow stuck to the skid. It's usually the trail is shot or the snow is set up. Lubrication is lubrication, I rather have these hyfax then add a bunch of bogies.

I ran my track where I would consider the middle of the road. Not banjo tight by any means, but about 3/4-1" or so sag in the free state. Closer to 3/4. Coming off of a new Skidoo, it was backwards from how you describe it. Too lose, and it would slap more between the bogies and wear a groove in the hyfax something fierce. Believe it or not, a tighter track would stop some of the slapping, and save hyfax. I have documented proof of this, however it does NOT appear this trick will work with my new XTX.
I'm with ya on the Duponts. Would rather have that than more bogies. I'll give it one more shot, and see. Then I may consider calling Excell.
