My first thoughts on the new Yamaha DuPont hyfax.

I just picked up my new dupont sliders today. If some one really needs a set I can send them out. No snow here and I still have lots of life on my old slides. So willing to let these go to someone that can use them or needs them cause looking like I wont be this year.

That is nice of you to make that offer to someone.

The stock sliders are about 67 inches long for a 162" skid.

They aren't making them for mountain skids yet. I had a hint that they would offer them as soon as they knew they were going to work out OK on the shorter tracked sleds.

Port Yamaha ( http://www.portyamaha.com ) in Port Washington Wisconsin sells the dupont sliders for $108 a pair. They fit the short track sleds and the XTX's. I just got a set shipped to me in Ontario Canada along with their extra inner wheel kit for my XTX. Even with shipping these sliders are much cheaper than what I can buy them for here at home. I havn't run them yet but from what other guys are saying I have confidence in this product. The extra inner wheel kit that mounts in the existing bolt hole behind the first set of bogeys should help also and looks stock, like they belong there. They sell that kit for $71.35 which includes 2 OEM Yamaha spoked wheels, 2 mounting blocks and 2 bolts. The nuts gets re-used as you remove the two bolts and nuts from the skid to install this kit. When calling them ask for Kevin. Ordering from these guys is as alternative for us Canadians who seem to get stuck paying through the nose for parts. I think this wheel kit along with the duponts will help in the long run. I enjoy this sled and plan on keeping it for several more years. Cheers.

Dupont sliders

I put about 2500 km on mine last Feb
They look about half worn by the rear bogey wheel. Plus the snow was about average
Picked up a spare set in August as they only had one set!
Was around $ 59+tax each
Well worth it for an XTX

picked up a set at my local dealer when we did the extension last week for around 75 bucks. Dealer put a crazy deal on all of them for some reason.

If you guys are looking I believe ulmer may have some in stock. He told me he did a test last year. Took all wheels off a test sled but the two in the rear, and went back and forth over glare ice with no snow for quite a few miles. Inspected them and saw no wear. I'm interested to see on the older apex etc with the real bad curve geometry up front how the front curve wear is. Would suck to see real good wear everywhere, and that section burns out on guys. Also if needed my local dealer in Lockport Illinois has them. Ask for John and tell him Bill sent ya.

I have a stock ripsaw and found that the dupont slides wore the rubber on the unclipped sections. I clipped the whole track of the summer; what a world of difference.

Caution: Be ready to use the brakes, You will coast a long ways. Those sliders are greased lightening on a fully clipped track.

I believe the hyfax's will wear more without being fully clipped, that is why I fully clipped my track this off season.

Yep, the Vespel material is mostly frictionless against steel, not vulcanized rubber. It's made to run cool against the track clips.

I had heard great things from 2 guys I ride with. They had changed to the Dupont slides and have seen little to no wear over 3000 miles! I have an xtx and have had them on for 1100 miles no extra wheels or tricks! These slides work! Worth the money! Barly wear even in low to no snow I don't even worry now. :rocks:
