my XTX setup, ride and review

65 psi up front
125 rear skid shock
Front skid shock halfway
Limiter straps middle hole

5'10"
210lbs with gear on

Never bottomed out once but it could buck me off the seat if I don't hold on tight....LOL !!

MBRP can is on and very happy with the results :)

Last ride was 4/20/14

So happy with my settings, haven't changed anything :)

Glad you like the viper with and either out the can. Much difference in 'loud'?

Mark, the can is perfect as far as everything goes....fit, ease of adjustments, heat disipation, sound (little over stock, not obnoxious....has a tinny sound to it, not barky), loss of weight, price compared to other cans and of course any extra power makes it all that much better.

Made me love the Viper even more now!

What is your top speed with the xtx and list your mods. Nos pro what is your final top speed after testing and adding exhaust and other mods. And how many feet are you seeing these numbers approximately. Thanks

Sorry for the delay, raced my SRX this weekend and worked around the house yesterday. Didn't check TY at all this weekend.

Clutching at the end is:
Primary clutch
8FP weights, 3 gram rivots in the tip
Green White Green spring with 1MM spring spacer
Stock rollers

Secondary clutch
The 45/39 Advantage helix worked well for me and I tried Shagman's 46/40 Dalton helix which worked good also (washers under the helix to prevent coil bind)
Pink (stock) spring set at 6-1

This last time I had it out was with the can installed and the conditions weren't good at all. 50+ degree temps and zero hard pack to get a good run. I saw a best of 97 in conditions you would only see about 82mph on a stock Viper. I do know I will need to put a little more tip weight in as the can did raise my rpm's to the point where I am hitting the rev limiter. Once you keep hitting the rev limiter, it knocks off speed fast.

My top speed on the gauge has been 107 and on GPS is a documented 105.1

I know it's faster now and just need perfect conditions to prove it. The sled is stock other than the can and clutching parts.

I switched to the 8DN also.

I didn't like the 8JP, left too much black on the clutches and didn't perform with the Viper "Stock" clutching. I might go back to it and try it if I get the clutching to grab the belt more to prevent slippage.

I moved this thread up as there have been a lot of PM's and posts about my setup, which is awesome!

Lots of good info here for the new guys just getting their new Vipers :)

Good info

Thanks yamahatime, saw you picked up a viper :)

Hey NOS-PRO, I did get a Viper. I'm pumped and apprehensive at the same time. I worry about the Cat chassis a little, but somewhat confident in Yamaha's influence. Previously working at a Yamaha dealership for 8 years, I did get some input from the Reps I still know. Teetering on a turbo...

I was worried at first also, but riding it made me a believer.

I put mine through a lot, jumping, deep snow, fast trail and off-trail and the only complaint I had was spring came too fast!

I put 3000 miles on mine without doing anything buy tighten some loose bolts and change the stock carbides.

That's 3/4 of the life of a 2 stroke sled right there. With all the info that's been put on this site over the last year you will be having fun.
