New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

I'll say it again. BNG, brighter LED taillight and all new stitching in the seat for 17! If not I like my "" CROW"" medium well with a nice garlic and basil marinade!

No worries gytr done on my behalf... I rarely get nervous and certainly not over this...
By the way there are lots of old Cougars around here lol... Unlike Yamaha some of these cougars are super high maintenance...

I haven't delved into any new stuff talk other than what I posted from the Fox Shocks guy earlier in this thread. I do know a few people in the industry that I cannot name just because it would get them in deep doo doo. I was out and about face to face with one yesterday and heard from the other through a phone conversation. I will say this....it could very well be another BNG year for 2017 as far as anyone knows. Both these guys would have normally seen the new stuff by now and they both said either Yamaha is EXTREMELY tight lipped this year or they just aren't ready yet. The one guy has seen parts......that's it, just cool looking parts...not any whole machine. One did elude to the fact that something new is coming from Japan and not out of the AC factory but that's it.

I will agree that the Cat chassis is not up to the quality of a true Yamaha machine but why do they charge Yamaha prices for a Cat? It's not like they have years of R&D into it and the engine is nothing new either....same can be said for the Apex. The technology is old and they should be passing a break on to the buyers and they might actually sell a few more if they did this. I think a new XTX here in Canada lists for about $16.5k plus plus, and a Viper is over $15k while a 1200 Doo goes for about $13k. The way I look at it, guys buying new Yamahas are getting gouged.....

As far as I'm concerned they are all too spendy for my current situation. I just don't have the time to go seek out snow. That's expensive too...gas, lodging, food. So having a nice older Attak works for me. I don't fret over no snow and I can go on a nice trip once a year to the UP and get my fix in.

They sure are expensive, they would probably sell a lot more apex's if they priced it more aggressively. It could be that they are satisfied with the current production volume as long as they sell all of them. If i was living in North America with lots of well groomed wide open trails i would probably never think about any other sled than the Apex. As it is now, I'm slightly leaning towards a Nytro TTX with the Öhlins shocks, the trails here in Sweden are mostly very rough and tight, mostly with a single sled width so we have to slow down and go to the side when we meet someone going the other way.

X2, Same situation with me. If (And that's a BIG if) and when Yamaha release's a new Apex replacement it will have to be lightyears ahead of my Attak to get me to purchase one.

Even with the Viper sales, total sales in the snow division are woeful for Yamaha. Viper sales have been ok for sure, but still less than a 10% market share. I don't care how great we think their lineup is, that lineup has resulted in a 10% market share. For Yamaha, no profit means no investment in sled development. The AC deal helped profitability, but sales volume needs to increase big time. That is never going to happen when you ignore 75% of the market by not producing two stroke options in their lineup. Yamaha is stubborn in this regard because that was not their plan. Their plan was a all 4-stroke lineup, and they make the best in the business, but it is still only a 10% market share. Solution...swallow some pride and use your engineering prowess to make the best 2-strokes in the market.

If we had access to all of the OEM's "profit per sled built" numbers, I'd bet USD1000 that Yamaha is #1. Produce essentially the same sled year after year with little R&D and tooling expenses, it's a pretty simple formula.

I would say that's right. That with sales growth is the ticket.

Hey bro not to get on anyone's nerves on TY, and I apologize to all that I have flustered. But I just want Yamaha to stop dragging there F feet and redo the flag ship model like it deserves. P.S. your Nona is awesome! :)

On that we can agree! An all Yamaha Apex chassis as strong as the Delta Box but lighter with the tried and true Apex 4 banger rear exhaust at 160 to 170 sounds about right to me.

I was at a dealer yesterday. This model year they sold many Vipers (including 14 Turbos) and some Vectors and sold 1 -ONE- Apex. I don't know if that's typical but it seems very telling to me.

These kinda articals this time of year just don't show up for no reason. Maybe not this year but soon? Who knows, and it may never happen. But it only further reinforces MY OPINION that the yamacat is here to stay and the so called "pure" Japan Yamaha Snowmobile is done! #keepsmokingalive! LOL!

Imagine if they did that and only offered it in Cat clothes, that way Yamaha could still say they are a "4-Stroke Snowmobile MFG". I do remember back in the early 2000's Sno-X when they were still somewhat competitive on the Mod Vipers or the last of the SX platform; pretty sure they had a few 800 twins under the hoods and not just the modded 700 triples.

I sure wish they would step up with something big....I have been looking pretty hard at the AXYS Pro RMK. The Apex is just plain getting up there in years and absolutely do not like that Cat chassis, I have ridden both the 1100 Turbo and the 800 and absolutely do not like them....
