Must have a Doo 1200, its the only other 4 stroke I would consider but they need to up the ante for power. I can't see buying one and adding $2k to make it perform like a stock Apex. Now that I have the power I just can't go back. (which includes the Viper) Sure the other option is the 1100 turbo Cat but you do have to do a little to them to get them to perform but I can't stand the lawn tractor sound.I'm not worked up about it either. For the record, I've already jumped ship. The incentives currently being offered for some '16 MY sleds from another brand were too good to pass up, so I'm going to try a different brand of 4-stroke. I based my decision on more realistic factors, rather than being delusional about the sort of sled I'd love to have. For me, it came down to looking at the type of riding I most often find myself doing versus the riding I'd being doing if I lived in a different part of the world. I'd probably hold out another year to see what might be coming if I thought for a minute that Yamaha was going to bring something for the off trail segment. But sometimes you gotta face facts and realize that the type of conditions you long to ride just don't exist in your neck of the woods. Yamaha doesn't really make the sled of my dreams, but even if they did I would have very limited opportunity to ride it. So I guess I bought something that I believe will fit what I do most often, which is trail ride. I took a good look at the manufacturer's engine building prowess before deciding on this sled and I will say this ... Don't kid yourself about the quality of the other brands' ability to design and produce a good motor. The sled I went with seems to be panning out as pretty reliable so far. We'll see.
Not a 1200 Doo. Believe it or not, I went with the 900 Renegade Adrenaline. Again, being more realistic I know that I'm going to be on trail more often than not, and that average speed for me doesn't approach the limits of what the 900 motor is capable of. Will I be left wanting more? Sure there will be times when I do, but for the majority of the riding I do the 900 will suit me just fine. And with the learning key, I can feel more comfortable letting my kids ride this sled. For anyone questioning the quality of Doo's engine building, take a look at this:

Cool video.
I too feel your pain with Yamaha leaving a huge void in the 95 - 115 hp range. For a "motor company" it's hard to believe why they continue to ignore this segment with more than one current motor under the roof that could fit this segment.

They could easily repackage the phazer motor into a more reslitic package, and bump the power up 10-15hp too.Cool video.

What the heck are you talking about? You are something else. I heard you were in hot water under the username groomerdriver on johndee. I don't have multiple accounts anywhere or different alias usernames. I have been a member of this site since it opened under the old format and software. I am journeyman on all sites, here, johndee,HCS, snowest, snowmobile (snowgoer), even amsnow. If you have nothing constructive to add, then don't.....
In the meatime, its snowing so if you are really a snowmobiler go ride that instead of the keypad. Of course I am assuming your location is correct. That could be an alias too I suppose.

Chris comments give me a very uneasy feeling on things. It sounds like a lot of change is going on and it's tough on him and his coworkers!C.R.'s back ..... not saying much.

I get it. As I age, grow up or what ever you want to call it, I am thinking more practical like that. What do I really do and what sled does that well, reliable (nearly all mfgs now), comfortable etc. I totally understand your choice. Have fun!

When you are challenged on what you post or called out, you resort to this kind of stuff? In the sites I frequent I don't see anybody else making the blatant statements that you are. Everybody is guessing and hoping. You are here saying "I know but I won't tell you". What do you expect? For everybody just to play your silly game?
I'm a realist and I won't play your game. If others chose to, that's up to them. This thread was fun to read until you came around.
