In my opinion they will be all in with a new chassie or be pulling out and just supply engines! We have not heard from Chis Reid for, what is it, two and a half months now? What do you guys percieve from that? We have a release date, if you want to call it that, of a dealer only anouncement via the internet on March 1st. Do you all think I'm wrong or right with my thought?

I'm starting to think the same way...I have a friend who is kind of in the loop with a sled magazine...he hinted towards Yamaha getting out of the sled game. Now this was only shop talk over beers and nothing concrete but he mentioned his contacts hinted towards it. I'd be fine with Yamaha supplying motors, clutching, and their EFI into someone else's chassis...as long as they can also clean up fit and finish issues.

Yamaha out of sleds? That would be crazy. With all the energy invested with arctic cat, I think they will continue to have Yamaha branded sleds but maybe they will all be made in Minnesota? That might make sense. Let Yamaha do the motors for cat, both 2 and 4 stroke, and let cat do the chassis and assembly. They would put different plastics on the Yamaha versions and call it a day. They would then focus on engines and of course all of their other product lines. They essentially did this with the Viper and it seems that they sold more sleds this way than they did with their Japanese sleds despite how great the Japanese sleds were built. Arctic cat has proven they can make a great chassis and the Yamaha faithful were happy to buy the viper. I think we will see an end to Japanese made sleds but I alSo believe that the continued relationship with cat will result in more Yamaha and cat sleds that the consumer actually wants.

No one has nailed it yet.........keep 'em coming though. Yamaha does read these threads.

Apex engine in a light new 100 % Yamaha mountain chassis with turbo! :) Not a yamacat! And in that chassis you can get 3 different engines to chose about and ofcourse all 4-stroke engines

A new lighter three cylinder 4-stroke with more power and a narrower chassi. It makes sense since the Genesis motor is old and heavy.

I still think the poor snow conditions causing bad sales are to blame. Either they are thinking of getting out or they are giving their dealers time to offload 16's. Notice none of the manufactures are releasing info on new sleds. Therefore, I'm not too worried yet. Yes, give us a light pure Yamaha with engine choices. As much as I love my Yamacat, I'd prefer a good light weight chassis from Japan.

I also think that Japanese made sleds are cost prohibitive. That may be another reason for the success of the Viper...

How about a big displacement, NA Apex pushing 200HP.... Am I close? With the end of the 1100T I'm assuming this will be the new flagship motor for both Yamie and Cat since the partnership is still in full bloom and would cut down the R&D cost in half for both companies. Either way, the 1100T pushes 177HP so they will have to have something to top it.....177HP is so 2000's lol

Since the 1050 was "retooled" for better or worse, do the new cases have more clearance in them for added stroke? We know they have a 1049 and 998 based off the new case why not an 800-900cc and a 1150-1250cc based of the same case also? 3 different HP class motors with the same case would allow for a unified chassis and lower costs. Even though a twin would probably fill the lower HP range better the costs to design and build a new twin, get EPA certification, and the lower number of sales involved would outweigh the slightly cheaper manufacturing costs of a twin. They might just use the 998cc as the lower HP option and cam it to turn ~8000rpm while making 100-105hp, Skidoo set the "Class" with a 900 triple @ 95ish HP. The 90-100hp class is sorely missing sleds right now and the 900ace seems to be doing well in that lineup hole.

Sno bikes are gay! With most clambering about storage, where would you put your stuff on this thing. UYA!
