New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

The more I watch the video, the more I think it's a Phazer replacement. Small displacement, high revving, light sled, 80-100 horsepower. If it handles well, not tippy, and doesn't look like a bug, then Yamaha has a winner here.

There's one or two frames if you pause it at 27 seconds. Definitely two skis

I would LOVE a snow-bike ! Gotta have two skis, though. I always wanted an Apex for the engine. But I never pulled the trigger due to the fact I would strip it down and modify it for REALLY bumpy trails. They all are nice to ride when the trails are smooth. But once the BIG bumps arrive, not so nice. The sled in my mind IS a crotch rocket style sled with a true 12 inch travel rear suspension and a true 10 inch front suspension. The articulating aspect is difficult to comprehend. I remember a video game at the arcade that consisted of a sport bike held centered by springs. To maneuver the "rider" around the track, you had to carefully lean the "bike". Very difficult. We would just put our feet down and cheat to get through the game. If this new machine has an articulating front end, I would have to try it before i buy it. That big motor needs to be in a bike-type frame to achieve the magic 450 lbs target weight. Light weight snowmobile chassis's don't hold up. Which is why I don't own a ski doo or Polaris. I break them too easily.

Love the Avatar, REDLINE sled that thing was sick too bad it didn't last.

I'm all for innovation, but a general masses bike will not happen, that's why I poked fun.

Look at AD Boivin. They tried, and spent ALOT of money with the Snow Hawk. It was a huge flop.

Sure, a few bike riders ride snowmobile in the winter, but I'd venture to say it's a small margin. Certainly not enough to spend millions on building a purpose built snowbike just for a select few. They (Yamaha) would never turn a profit on them.

If it isn't a full bodied sled for $8000 or less or a 180+hp factory sled then I could care less, either way it doesn't really matter to me what it is, I won't be giving up my viper for it. However For a full bodied low cost machine (under $8k) I'd consider buying my wife an early Christmas present lol. For all the guys that are dying for a 2-stroke, these blue viper plastics would fit great on a cat 800, they may be hard on gas and oil but it's the most reliable 800 on the market.

For those that say that it's not a snowbike because they see two skis in one scene, who says that this video portrays just one model? There could easily be 4 or 5 different sleds in this video. Even near the end, it looks like a 2up sled, as it looks like 2 helmets are seated on the sled.

I was close to getting one myself, got the jacket and then the company collapsed.
I am sure that thing hauls the mail.

I think

Maybe wont need a 2st to compete racing XC and SX if they made the Phazer 2cyl a 600 Turbo and put the Cat front end on it with tank under seat to get c.o.g. lower it may be the 4st that can beat the 2 strokes. Would also rev just like what we heard in video. Could use same Platform minus Turbo to get a sub $8000 sled. Just scares me when cost savings and engines from Yamaha are in same sentence. Dont forget guys odds are good for more than just one model. We know the Cat/Yamaha thing is going to continue. Maybe one from Japan and one or more from Cat. Hopefully they learned from each other. To be honest a new Public Relations rep is really what we all need.

If its a snow bike for the trail it will have 2 skis, single ski snow bikes don't work well on trail. A Quebec based company AD boivin created the Snow hawk a single ski with either a 600cc/800cc options, although the track was rounded on the edge and ski built for trail use it didn't fair well on the trail. Great machine for the deep snow.

Many clubs are already banning them on "regular sled trails"... I read somewhere lately that MN did and several local clubs have too... Maybe snow bikes will have their place on the race track only ...
