New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

I Didnt think that was a crossplane motor,my bad

Yup it is and it's an incredible engine! I know I probably shouldn't be talking about bikes in the middle of winter on a snowmobile forum lol but that fz-09 or better yet the fz-07 twin cylinder engine would make for one fun sled to ride if they put it in a full bodied sled. There is and always will be bigger higher hp options for sleds but with growing prices that market has got to be shrinking, time to go after the market where people feel good about buying a new sled and not spending half their years wages on it.

Just looked at it,thats only 115hp!!Man that is way to wimpy and if thats all they come out with that would be a bummer of a trail sled,great for a wife or kid though

Exactly, 115hp torquey four stroke is going to put it in the same class as a 600, the Phazer was only 80 hp and that sled was an absolute blast to ride. Honestly I think the last thing Yamaha needs is another 130-160 hp sled, everybody has those and they're all $11k or more. Either go big and make a high hp sled (180+) or keep it simple and affordable and get more people riding Yamaha.

The way this rider is sitting leads me to believe it's crotch rocket style seating on a sled. I think, they've made a bit of a trail slaying monster here...

He's leaned forward, handle bars seem to be down low, looks like his knees are way below his waist...I know when I sit on my viper my knees are almost level with my waist...just a tad below. They definitely blew the competition away with yxz side x side, so I think whatever this sled is it'll be crazy forsure! This is gettin interesting!
It looks like the guy is jus tat the back end of the sled to make the illusion that he is on a crotch rocket!!!
Not that I'm staring at his package..lol but there is no seat left behind him you can see snow

No windshield! Brrr cold!
My phazer does not have a windshield and its fine, unless you ride in -20C.

This might actually be a Phazer replacement!~!!!

I was referring to motorized snow bikes like the Sno Hawk. I don't see why they would ban those. The others d-bags can ride on the thousands of miles of bike path that we waste our tax money on.

The MN law states vehicles who's original design was for snow. This may be different in other states.

The legal definition of a snowmobile is a self-propelled vehicle originally

manufactured and designed for travel on snow or ice steered by skis or

runners. Snowmobile does not include the following vehicles equipped

with aftermarket ski and track configurations:

1. an all-terrain vehicle defined in MN Statute §84.92;

2. an off-highway motorcycle defined in MN Statute §84.787;

3. an off-road vehicle defined in MN Statute §84.797;

4. a mini truck defined in MN Statute §169.011;

5. a utility task vehicle described in MN Statute §169.045;

6. any other vehicle being operated off road.

So this would allow a SnowHawk as it was designed for snow from the OEM. This eliminates, the SXS and ATV with tracks and also eliminates the Snowbikes that are converted dirt bikes with a Timbersled etc.

Now if AC releases the SVX450 that they showed at Haydays, or Polaris actually utilizes the Timbersled technology they bought and released something, that would be different. As it would ship from the OEM as a snowbike.

Rider might seem to lean forward at 18 sec but then in another shot his back is straight...

For sure its got a headlight and two skies. Sorry that's all I got. :)

I found a link of a video shot in Wisconsin. Isn't that where their "secret" test facility is?

My buddies were out in Hurley, as we all have, and got a chance to ride further south earlier this year. They said they had seen something that sounded different than anything they had heard before. They assumed a 4-stroke of some sort, but it was higher pitched. Sort of like a stock-piped Apex engine.

The reason that this came up again, was when the teaser video came out yesterday, they realized they had a ton of gopro footage that they had not edited down. They saw what looked to be a prototype and the sound of a Yamaha. So they dug through all the footage, and THERE IT WAS!! You have to look at this video, as I think it may be what we are waiting for in the 2017 release.

I dont' know how to embed it, so here goes:

Maybe someone can edit down the good parts and "enhance" it a bit. Then we can all dissect it like the Yamaha teaser.

Good luck!

Some people just have too much time on their hands...
