New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

I am getting tired of hearing so much about a snow bike. I highly doubt this is the big release Yamaha is coming out with. First, they aren't legal on the trails. Second, there's no way it could handle remotely as well as a sled and three, there is no demand for them. Up until a month ago, no one has heard of or even mentioned the wish to own a snow bike. Even now, would anyone of you trade in your sled for a snow bike? I just can't see Yamaha producing something that is not in high demand. For several years, we have been screaming for a lighter weight sled and hopefully this is the year Yamaha delivers.

I'm with you...I hope this is no sno-bike! I can't see them investing in something that not many have been asking for,i personally hope it's lighter and more powerful than what i have right now.....If it is i'm in!

there might be a snowbike, but its for sure that's not what they're telling the competition not to blink for..

A snowbike is coming obviously it will not be for trail use, Yamaha is a company that likes to fill the niche. And though not for all the snow bike is most definitely niche, a lot are saying I don't want a snow bike I want a sled. You won't be left out either.

You already have your lighter sled, the Viper, I will say it again there will be two models released.

One of the reasons more and more mountain snow bikes are being used is there is no foot board to get hung up on when side hilling, lighter, and versatility. Although not for everyone, Yamaha can easily put a foothold on this up and coming niche as they already build the bike. And now that AC Bought TS it only makes it easier for both company's to sell there product together.

My bad, it was Camoplast, aka Camso. that they worked with for the Haydays teaser.

2 long weeks left, and sitting here with a bit of mixed emotions.
I am of course exited, like everybody else, because obviously there is some new iron coming!
Question is what are we going to see?
Like others already have stated, there are not just one product in the Yamaha line-up that are long over-due.

Reading through comments here and there, it seems so far, that we will see at least 2 new machines?!
But, it looks like one is a "snowbike" and that is a new niche for sure, not something that replaces something.
While some would disagree, I think it make sense to offer a snowbike.
We already have 4-5 companys producing well-executed kits for MX-bikes, so there is a market, and it looks growing.
If Yamaha takes their own bike, and sell it with the already shown track-kit shown on Arctics coming snowbike, so why not.
With that said, as a former SnowHawk-driver, I would be more intrested in a purpose-built snowbike, but that is probably to early to wish for.

So, then it comes down to this great sounding missile in the teaser video!
If it is a truly missile for snow, I suppose the name Sidewinder is pretty accurate!
But, here comes my mixed emotions.
I really would like to see a replacement for the Apex, but is that what we are going to see?
A new Apex, for me, should still be a 4cyl R1-derivat built in Japan snowmobile, otherwise it is not a replacement!
If the Apex goes, and a high-performance 3-holer comes in a new co-developed chassie with AC, and built in AC-factory, I am not sure how to feel about that...
That would more feel like an up-graded replacement for the already existing Viper.

Apex has come a long way, when you know it have its roots in the very late 90´s.
It´s kind of fantastic it exists, and here Yamaha were bold enough to give us this machine that fills a niche.
And filling niches is what Yamaha always have been good at...please continue that!

Well, we will soon see...

What doesn't make sense is they are marketing it as extremely fast, I don't know too much about snow bikes but I would imagine a dirt bike with a snowmobile track on it is not going to be able to beat a viper let alone 800 2 stroke

I think its going to be more of a crotch rocket style snowbike if it is, that wasn't a 450 dirt bike engine in that video!

What ever it is, I am sure it's going to put all the 800's to shame.
