New chassis assembled in TRF with many of the parts built in japan including the turbo-charged engine.....But a joint effort coming from both companies.that's my guess.

^^ I certainly hope that's not the big release. I don't think they're even legal on our trails at this time.
they are saving the god stuff for the 50th anniversary, thats what i have heard,
NOT 100% reliable source but most things he have told me was right.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the current apex motor, however it would be really nice with a new apex platform with a little less bulk and with better stand up ergonomics The crossplane motor revs a little too high to be a great sled motor. How about making the oil filter accessible without having to remove the light pod, airbox, battery and battery bracket?

Something along these lines seems most likely to me. An Apex replacement designed jointly by the two companies in a new chassis. I still dont think a turbo is needed though.

A new Apex with a jointly developed chassis that's made for the Apex engine as it is, that would be great! If they just keep the engine as is, then we all know where to go for reliable 290 hp if we need more! If they make a nice MTX version the boosted modded climb-a-holics could have an apex revival and with a nice trail version they could sell a lot of them! A few extra hp would be nice, although that might mean raising the rpm and down-gearing a bit more before the clutch but that might be nice as well if they've already accommodated for that in the chassis.Something along these lines seems most likely to me. The details are fuzzy but wasn't it about this time last year that a TY member came across a group riding a supposed prototype of the Apex replacement. It was "very different" but distinctly an Apex. I just hope they weren't counting on a turbo 1049 (late build '16 version) to streamline engine production, parts etc. - Also Cat has a 125hp 4 stroke that is not a Yamaha engine that could be Yamaha. And Yamaha is almost certainly bringing out a SnoBike at the same time. Are we gonna see these on trail riding next winter?
The same Apex motor in a 50 lb lighter sled with a decent suspension that isn't a deep snow submarine (better angle of attack) that won't break so easy is all that is required to replace the Apex. The resources are there.

But the Apex was 50 pounds lighter 10 years ago. The Apex needs to lose over 100 pounds for me to buy another.

I was suggesting there are more Cat models for Yamaha engines to go into. Including a 125hp sled I didn't realize they had until recently.

No getting around it, 4 strokes are heavier. I don't see that changing too much.
