The linkage makes the suspension more progressive but also affects transfer.(less with Hygear Linkage) it makes the 141 easier to trail ride for most. Some of us are active riders and like all the transfer we can get since it is easily controllable with your body. Others want a slot car feel. I cant vouch for the difference in coilspring and airshock rear but like said I liked what I rode stock and it was air shocks 14 se xtx.I am sure set up is huge and knowing how to tune your suspension would also be important, but I assume that Hygear developed the linkage to compensate for the harsh ride of the stock suspension? Maybe there is another reason and the ride quality is just a side benefit, but I remember reading other threads where a lot of people swore by the Hygear linkage as the cure for the harsh ride.
I replaced the stock shocks with QS3’s and there was a huge difference in the ride right out of the box. If I really knew how to tune my suspension I probably could even improve on it.

My plan is to remove the hygear linkage and ride it that way and see how bad I feel it is. I haven’t owned a coupled sled for over 12 years and the ride, albeit it is rougher than a coupled, never really bothered me. The fun factor of an uncoupled suspension was far better than the better ride if a coupled suspension. That’s obviously my opinion though. If it’s absolutely horrid for me with it off I’ll put it back on and the. Evaluate.
