Let me start by saying I bleed Yamaha blue but, I can't help but choke when I see the prices of the new sleds!!! Anyone else think 12k+ is a bit much for a snowmobile?!?!?!? Thoughts?

do you think your 07 2500 HP truck is expensive? (got it from your signature)

You cant get much any more for $8000, WE as consumer want more technology, more advanced materials for less weight and have driven the price beyond what the largest voice for change can now afford.

Yamaha is damned if they do and damned if they dont.

Like I said before they make a nice phazer in your price range for a SNOWMOBILE.

Kinger: don't assume my price range is $8000 thanks. I merely am commenting on the escalation of snowmobile prices. 12 - 14,000 dollars for a snowmobile IS a lot of money. Comparing my Chevy 2500 HD and a snowmobile makes no sense. Yeah, my truck was more than a snowmobile but people pay 5000 for televisions too?!?! It's sad that the prices are reaching levels that would put them out of reach for many people. I understand there is a price to pay for technology and I don't think Yamaha is alone in this. I think the jump from 09 to 11 is hard to swallow!

Yes, I feel the same way that $12,00 plus is a lot to pay for a sled. But Yamaha is not alone. You can spend this money for a new Ski Doo, Polaris, or Arctic Cat just as easy.

However, I personally think outboard marine motors are the most over priced thing out there! G.B.

I was just comparing your truck not to the snowmobile but to the inflation of pricing. I remember a brand new truck 4x4 was around $18,000 in 1995, now my sierra denali was $52,000!

Point was its not just sled that is way more expensive. I do agree with you I will not buy a new one at those prices are to appealing used and I like to build them custom for me anyway.

I have less then $8k in my sled and its a supercharged beast with no tinkering. No way I would downgrade to a new 'stock' one LOL

US $ went in the tank VS the Japanese Yen and Canadian $.

Blame your mortgage lenders, bankers and Government not the sled makers.

2011 Apex SE in Canada is less than 20 % more than a 2006 Apex GT was in Canada. Not to bad % increase for 5 years. About 3% compound annually. Seems fair to me for the time period and all the improvements.

In general though, yeah $17,000 plus for my new sled is a bit much but so was $75,000 for my truck and $5.50 for a cheeseburger and $2:50 for a coke. I recall 5 cent cokes and 20 cent cheeseburgers.

Good thing interest rates are so low. Anyone remember 18% to 25 % mortgages in 1981? I do!!!!! Those were the bad old days.

Sleds are optional, keeping a roof over your familys head, not so much.

Kinger - I aggree with you on the mod issue... Denali is a sweet ride too. I have to admit that these 4 stroke beasts last a lot longer then the old 2 smokes. That has to add to the equation! I would snap up a left over or a used sled in a second!

Candian dudes I feel your pain!!!

I still dont quite understand why canadian pricing is so much more, I feel bad for you guys!

Also it makes me a little upset if its a currency conversion thing, because ski doo (made in canada) should be cheaper in canada then in the US but I think its the opposite.

I dont get it...

the canadian vs. american pricing has been talked to death!... my 2 apex's came from the states, because of the pricing.... i saved thousands when we bought them....

Kinger.... i don't get it either... Skidoo... made in quebec... about 10 hrs from me... are about $4000 more then sleds shipped accross the border... and dealers are not aloud to sell to canadians... (unless an american address)... its alot of BS... but welcome to the government. we have alot more taxes/fee's that come into play..
