first off hi all, i was refered to this site but another forum (snowmobileforum.com)
My problem is that my skis have a large amount of slop. I have been reading posts for the last few days about ski spindle bushings, but there is a little play where the bushing goes thru the spindle, the real slop is in the shoulder bushings that fit into the ski. Is there an after market bushing for there or is my only option the OEM?
Second is how much play is acceptable in the spindle? and does this mean i need to replace both the Ski bushings, and spindle bushing?
Thanks

I have the same problem on one of my skis. The plastic is egged out where the bushing goes and makes it pretty sloppy. There isn't a really easy "fix" for this. I was thinking of drilling it out and making a larger bushing for it, but I have a set of good stock skis I can swap in when I get around to it.

By your description, you need number 3 and I would do all four number 20/22 at the same time. www.portyamaha.com has #3 at $7.53 each and #20/22 at $5.85 each. The ski bolt needs to tightened down enough to stop the rotation in #3. The collar that goes through 20/22 is the only thing that should rotate when moving the ski tip up and down.

Crewchief47,
thank you, and yes a agree / understand with everything you are saying. But im a little confused seeing the exploded view. I have items 3,7,8,10, and 13. if 19 thru 22 are the spacers i have those but not items 14, and 15.
If 14 and 15 are the spacers than i do not have items 19 thru 22.
My bigest confusion is there is no room for anything to slide over item 13, and still fit inside the spacers and / or spindle.
item 13 is the brass bushing that i was refering to in my earlier post. By eye i would guess there is ony a few thousenths gap between the outside of the bushing, and the inside of the spacers / spindle.
What am i not seeing?

19-22 are the bushings that are pressed into the spindles.13 is the long bushing(steel) that goes through spindle. That is what the spindle rotates on.

canondale27,
Thaks for the clarification ill have to look better at my spindle to see if there are bushings in there (there must be)
item 13 is deffinatly some kind of brass on my sled. When i first looked at it i thought it was odd they would put a brass one there.
I even scratched it with a screwdriver to be sure.
and yes it was the typical goldish color of brass.
This could be the reason for my issue. feel free to correct me, but i could not think of an intellegent reason for this to be brass?

No it should be steel especially since when you tighten the bolt it tightens against it.If it were to squish then the spacers would be tight on the spindle.Maybe someone made that? You sound like a good candidate for UpBushmans kit.Replaces all the parts there and way better made than stock.

you are absolutly correct.
I went to the dealer with all my parts in hand, and not any kind of a match. I was able to get all new parts, they had them in stock. I have to admit that the "stock" parts do not impress me. but at least they were not too expensive.
When these wear out ill look into UPBushman

When i bought my sled There way a bunch of misc parts in a couple milk crates.
While i was looking for something else i found a Priority Mail box that had 2 small brand new what looked to be brass bushings, 4 plastic washers, and what looks to be s/s (non magnetic) bushings 2 about 3" long, and 4 shorter about 3/4" lg. plus some wachers. They look alot like the UP Bushman kits.
I do not want to put the persons mane and address over the internet, but the persons initials are R.R and the package shipped from MI
Could these be Bushman`s kits, and i wish i wouldent have wased 50 bucks on the other spindle bushings.
Thank you

Dont know if i should be happy or pi$$ed
I installed the Stock ones last night.
are Bushman`s worth tearing out brand new Stock? Or is there not a big enough difference to hold on until these one loosen up?

Might as well leave them in there for now.You will get around 1000mi before the stockers really start slopping out.
