oil light flashing?

Went on what I thought was my last ride in Mts. today. Got over to get gas in Greenville and noticed an OIL message flashing on the dash? It's been a good Winter on my 10 Vec LTX, new slides , Pol. bogies on skid, and 4th wheel. Really been enjoying it, but what's this? Took off shroud and pulled oil stick, looked kind of dark for new oil change this season and a bit low. So added some new oil then, back on the trail home. On arriving back 43 mi., light was flashing again. Just over 1000 mi. this season of riding, now 5900 mi. on sled. Anyone have any thoughts? An oil change?

Maybe just the oil level sensor is flaky. If you're sure the level is good, unplug it and see what happens. That's the oil LEVEL sensor on the tank, not the pressure sensor.

If it says OIL on the dash where your odomoter is its a warning that its time for an oil change.
You gotta tell the sled when you change the oil or it will remind you to do it at around 3000 miles

Oil was suppsedly changed in Dec., should have checked it better when I got it back from mechanic... How do tell it when oil is changed?

If you didn't change it yourself, there is no way of telling when it was done.

When you, or whoever does the oil change, there is a reset button that needs to be adjusted to remind you of the next oil change.

My 08 doesn't have it, I change annually at the end of the season regardless of the miles, same with filter, always do both at the same time as it is real easy on a Vector.

The light was the change oil reminder, just like was mentioned. There is a reset, also mentioned , that my local dealer (Friend & Friend) copied the fix out of their shop manual. Thanks all for the help, once again!

Mine has been flashing for a month now.

I really need to dig out the manual and see how to stop it, that and I gotta set the clock too.
Its a pain adding 1 hr and 40 minutes to the time at 60 MPH

Anybody ever read their manuals? LOL it's in there along with how to reset it. Most dealers wont reset it for you.

That must be unique to the Vectors? My Nytro has never done that.

My nytro will occasionally flash the oil light on start up when really cold, but that's it.

My manual didn't have the fix, had to get it from the dealer shop manual. He printed off a copy for me...There is a sequence that u follow to reset it..Haven't done it yet, but, seems pretty simple. My info says that this indicator will come on every 2500 mi., once reset is done...

We googled it on the trail from our smart phone for the Apex

Never thought of doing that. Just went to TY, got a couple of replies, and stopped by the local Yamaha dealer. The mechanic that gave it to me just happens to be our President of the Maine Snowmobile Assoc.! Now that's service...

Right now it has it stuck in its head that I needed an oil change about 459 miles ago...yes dear, I will get around to it :o|
