Hey guys,
Last weekend I went riding all day. The night of riding the sled sat outside in colder temps (-10F or so)
I warmed her up sunday morning and started moving along and the low oil light came on, so I was making my way to the gas station and then it shut off. So I thought it was just from the cold.
Well it sat the entire week and we have been having some cold temps. So today I started it up, warmed it up and the oil light was on again.
I checked it this time and it is definitely low...
There was no leaks, no sign of anything leaking at least.
Any idea if this is something to be concerned of?
Thanks,
Dalton

Maybe you just didnt fill it when you did your last oil change. Is a procedure for checking oil level in manual. Otherwise keep an eye on it to be sure its not leaking or burning.

Might check for plugged vent line, maybe even ice in it.

Also may want to check the drain plug on the oil tank itself and the set screws if you removed the filter screen at the bottom of the tank closest to the frame, it has an o-ring that must be there on reassembly.
I found my oil tank drain to be a tad loose, not leaking loose but loose.

When checking the oil level do not screw in the dipstick.
Fill the oil up and keep an eye on it if there are no signs of a leak.

My buddys wifes did this last week. We put 3/4 litre of oil in it and rode a couple hundred miles.
Yesterday we ran another 150 and bang...blew it up.
We towed it back and will take a look this week to see what went wrong.
All I can say right now is don't ignore this.

Wow, that sucks. I just went through an engine replacement and it's a pain in the #*$&@ to find one at a realistic price. Keep us informed on what the problem was.

you know if you tip it on its left side it can dump the entire contents of the oil reservoir into the air intake.

Open your air box lid, you may have to clean it out. As far as oil 0W30 synthetic is what the manual calls for but some run 0w40. If your not sure what was in there before your should do an oil change. It not good to mix oils.

That may have something to do with it.
With the super cold weather it has been icing up at the cooler in front of the track.
This has caused overheating issues.
He has been tipping it on its side to knock the ice out.
May have dumped oil and it got sucked into motor somehow...beats me

Now. You always want to change the oil at the end of the season before you store it for the summer. 4 stroke motors develop acid in the oil from use whicih can etch engine bearings when not in use.
