ok, last week running around with my buddies just built 2003 rx1 rear mount turbo. runs fine around 7 lbs. then the next day we turn the boost up to 16lbs and on the 3rd 1000ft run it spews engine oil out the engine vent tube all over the clutches etc. We bring it back to the garage and clean it up. sled is idling low, around 900, then we find it has a fouled plug #2. change it then idle's fine and seems to run fine but the snow melted and haven't tried it again. The fouled plug wasn't damaged and didn't have any visible aluminum dust on it. Was it just a fouled plug?

If you have oil spewing from the breather, you have woofed the motor big time. Did you drain the tank of pump fuel and fill with strait race fuel before turning up to 16 lbs?????

Better do a compression check on it before you take it out again. I'd bet that you took out a piston with all that boost. Was it stock pistons and pump fuel ?

Uh oh, you're missing part of a piston. The oils spewing is combustion pressures getting into the crank. Sorry man, I think you've got some work on your hands...

Don't you get a little turbo blow-by at high boost? I have heard of oil coming from the crankcase breather without piston failure from other people.

going to buy an adapter for the gauge tomorrow, it has compression based on holding the palm of my hand over the hole, but the that one plug is still wet running it in the garage. So does anyone think a fouled plug could cause this? Or are we pulling the motor tomorrow?

stock motor, gasket with 50/50

16 lbs is alot of boost on stock motor even with 100 octane. Probably burnt a piston. Also how much time did you allow the sled to cool in between passes? High water temps will cause big problems when running even close to the edge at all. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt!

I thought about that too but if that's the case it should have blown oil on the first and second runs also. Could be it just took three hard runs to do enough detonation to cause a problem. I've been there and done that. Anybody want to buy three low mile stock pistons ? Onrof, I wouldn't even try starting it again till you know for sure cause if you did pooch a piston the more you run it the better chance it will be that it screws up a cylinder. Mllenium gets $500 or so to fix it if the damage isn't too bad, Ken.

Doesn't the 03 have cast iron cylinders? hopefully!.

I've just been swapping the plugs around and it still leaves the #2 plug wet. the only new plugs in the garage have permanent caps on them.

Ok, for tomorrow, what is the normal compression lbs. In case they are all equal. Of course if just the one is significantly lower the motor coming apart anyway.

Sorry onrof, but I think you've got an ashtray on your hands.

On the bright side, now is a perfect time to do LC pistons. If you don't want to do the motor yourself, we can help you out.

It's toast. Don't even bother with plugs and comp test. When its that bad, the bore gets distorted, the pistons and rings go bad, and its starts to eat valves and seats. If it made 3 passes on pump fuel, thats pretty good. I'm sure it did damage on the first pass. It will need a complete rebuild. Be sure to check bore distortion and valve leak when its apart. Thats too bad that had to happen. What were you running for fuel? Mike Knapp#17

"What were you running for fuel? " Had 112 and pump somewhere around a slopping 50/50. It was my fault since the sled was in my garage with 100% 112 and i siphoned half it out to trail ride at low boost. 2nd day added 9 grams of weight and flipped the switch to run off against a CPR and MPI sleds. The three charged sleds sound so good running together i had flipped my helmet up just to drink it all in..... then on the third pass i get a face full of oil. Worth every penny!!

Thanks for the help guys.. sounds like the motors coming out tomorrow.
Here is a pic I just took of the vent blowing smoke out still after i just switched the plugs again.

I will be sure to have the bore and valves checked and I'm sure i will be doing searches on this site for the next couple days.
