Old guys on Winders

Just came across this post. I am 66, started riding in 1965 on a 64 Scorpion. Been riding ever since. Usually about 3,500 miles per year. 4,400 miles last year. Don’t think I have slowed down at all. Never any aches or pains, so I guess I am lucky. I only plan on stopping, when they stick me in the ground. I am on my 45th snowmobile, and 47th car. Sledding sure beats going to a Florida in the Winter.

AWSOME!
My dad says Florida is where people go to die.

Born in 1958, I distinctly remember watching the clock in 3rd grade when it was snowing could NOT wait to get home to ride.......OK the first sled was a Sno pony but hey it lead to 10 Yamahas, 3 cats, 3 Doos, and 3 Poo’s presently have 6 yamies if you include Sno scoots. Might be an addiction surely an obsession

Hoping to retire soon and do NOT see missing winter not going to happen

My Dad is 84 and calls Florida a scrap yard for old people, and refuses to go there. Parents go to the islands instead.

They will have to bury me with my sled...if I don't bury myself first. Thanks for all the replies everyone. Great stories

I hated the looks, but finally broke down and got the brp pig nose (forgot the name...I'm old..lol. And too lazy to go look) helmet, and have to say, it works excellently. The pig nose breath deflector can be adjusted as you ride, and it has a dumbass flashing light in back! lol

I remember the days of riding with jeans on!!!!that just sounds stupid now:brrr:

Let me tell you guys something; I have my best friend lined up for me. When I die he going to
Take my ashes and spread them on trail 8 between Xmas and Munising just past the bridge going
East toward Shingleton. Then when everyone runs trail 8 a little bit of me rides forever.
Now that’s good planning don’t you know.

I have something similar in mind for my part of the world. What a way to rest eternally!

Lmao..me too. Early 1990’s...I had no money to Afford bibs(every cent I had went into the old used sled I had at the time), rode in long johns, and jeans and Steel toed Carolina boots, for my first few years of going away snowmobiling on wknd trips. Girlfriend at the time bought me my first pair of bibs for my birthday in mid March 1992....and I couldn't believe the difference, I was amazed how much better it was.

Young, dumb and real Broke...but man scraping every cent together just to be able to go away and ride was so much fun..it didn’t matter.

I had a Blue Snorkel Jacket with fake fur on the collar, Carhartt bibs & those flimsy tall green boots that Tractor Supply still sells for $11.99 with the little yellow stripe on top.

The sad thing was, my whole outfit was "hand-me-downs"

My dad was un-employed with 3 kids when times were tough, BUT we still had snowmobiles!
