Old guys on Winders

Well, I’ll be 62 this September and don’t see me slowing down at all. Try to get 4,000-6,000 miles a year weather permitting. Been riding sleds for over 45 years. I Got a 2nd Sidewinder this winter. Now I have to decide which one to ride in the mornings!! LOL
Riding Boosted sleds keeps me feeling young. Also added a Vintage V-Max 4 to my collection this past year. It’s a Blast from the past

Great posts guys. Got my 2018 50th anniversary RTX Sidewinder on the year I turned 50 years Old. And I didn’t even realize that was the Case until I was riding it one time that first season...and realized I was gonna be 50 in 6 weeks or so that March lol.

Now 51...and I couldn’t imagine not being able to ride during the winter. Love my Winder...SM Flash Tune bundled it this past season, and it was awesome. So hope I don’t have to worry about “not being able to ride” due to age for quite sometime yet???? I know there are no guarantees...so Here’s to hoping!!

That is very cool! Here’s to doing the same for the 60th.

I’m 52 and really impressed with you guys over 60 still riding all those miles! Hope I can continue as long as some of you diehards!
Seems there aren’t many youngsters out sledding these days, I think most are playing video snowmobiling games or something?
I’m not complaining, less traffic on the trails for us!!
Machine gun salute to you all!!!

Lol..all these young kids are To busy on their phones and with Facebook and Instagram...they’re obsessed for crying out loud with that crap, so there’s no time for them to do anything else. Better for us though like you said.

I am 68 and next year will be my 24th season. I rode a little over 3500 miles last year, with @ 2,000 of them on my new Sidewinder. My 17 year old grandson has been my primary sledding buddy for the past 5 years, and my other grandson just turned 6, and has been riding a Yamaha 120 since he was 3. I know someday my body is going to fail me, but as long as someone is still willing to carry me out and put me on my sled, I am going to ride!

That is absolutely awsome

I'll be turning 66 next b-day. Been riding since 1968 so that's 51 years. 7 grand kids & 2 great-grandchildren. My young (20 somethings) nephews still want me to ride with them because I can ride at the front and challenge them to keep up. Still ride 2000-3000 miles every winter and plan on continuing as long as I can. I have joint replacements and have gone through about 13 orthopedic surgeries to repair joints, ligaments, etc. If I can do it, you all sure can. Let's keep carrying the flag!! Love this sport!

With some of the recent banter on this thread about young kids and snowmobiling I thought that I'd chime in....

Every Christmas my sister in law and her boys stay with my wife and I for the week. They live in New Jersey and don't get a lot of snow, or know anyone who rides sleds back home. Each year we carve out one day to take the boys riding on some of our vintage sleds and boy oh boy do they have a ball.

We've given them some Yamaha swag to take home with them and they proudly wear their Yamaha caps, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets to school. The youngest even did a show and tell at school one year about his sledding experiences in MN.

I just chatted with the boys recently about our upcoming annual family summer trip to the Jersey shore and the first thing they asked about was if we're going to go "Beeling" again this year at Christmas.

Hopefully we've planted the seeds to keep their interest in "Beeling" alive and well as they grow up so they can keep the future of our sport going strong for the next generation.

This last pic pretty much says it all with what we all should be doing when the opportunity is there....

I agree it has a lot to do with being a good parent, definitely helps to be supportive.
I was going to take my two nephews but got over ridden by their over protective mother, apparently 15 degrees is way to cold to go snowmobiling. Mind you they are 17 and 15 years of age......really?

They are fat and out of shape, didn’t really care because they spend most of the time indoors and weren’t at all disappointed that they couldn’t go.

Tell mom to remove the "bubble wrap". We survived, bruises and skinned knees. Fresh air exercise is what I call it. I'd rather be out and experiencing the great outdoors than looking at a picture or tv.
