revdog, yes i had to bottom the inner tie rod ends adjusters out, so i could get an easier adjustment on the outer tie rod ends. it seems with the install of wildchild kit and the timbersled kit combined, you almost have to cut the tie rod shafts to ease the adjustment for the toe of the skis.

and i am still waiting for the ulmer timbersled oilite bushing kit. shouldnt be long now. ski

Been following this thread from the beginning and I'm very appreciative of those who worked so hard to achieve these results and post them for others to read and use this helpful info, so for that, Thank You ;)!

I've done a few of the less costly mods as well, but I think I've come to the end of the road for now with the holidays fast approaching...$$$

So far I've swapped the stock muffler for my Yosh Ti RS5 "frankenpipe", lost a solid 14 lbs there. Then I went on to swap the stock wheels and skis for some Slydogs, not quite sure how much or IF there's a weight saving there overall, but the wheels are definitely lighter. I removed all the tunnel protectors underneath that were attached to the tunnel, so possibly a few lbs there, yet more importantly, I should save weight there for sure considering the amount of snow those suckers hold up under the sled. I did the lightweight YTZ7s battery swap, figure another 11lbs there. That's about all for now, figure I lost about 28-30 lbs alltogether, which wasn't too costly. Anyway, I'll be watching closely to see if anyone can come up with more affordable weight saving mods, and if I think of anything myself, I'll be sure to let others know as well.

pics of the barkbuster front end installed and pics of the hole in the bulkhead below the clutches that you can fill with one of the many plastic push clips that hold small trim on the fx nytro. vs installing a bolt and nut to plug that hole to keep snow, ice, and water from getting into the belly pan and possibly wetting your boot and pants through that hole. just a lighter way aof doing the same thing. ski

He's plugging that small hole beneath the clutch to help prevent snow/water/ice from entering the area and settling where the skidplate tends to have this problem.
 
well, grapeape came to my rescue yet again. it is awesome to have a brother from another mother, help me like he does. sometimes, i dont know how i can ever repay him.

the sled is totally finished now. we went down to grape's to pick up the wife's sled today, and while we were there chris and i set the toe, camber, and completed the front end alignment, on mine.

found out with the wild child steering post relocator on the fx nytro, you cannot use the yamaha service tool to lock the steering in place, for perfect alignment of the bars and post. but we made doo.

the nice thing about the timbersled front end is, it is totally adjustable... upper and lower camber, toe ect... you could even adjust how wide or narrow the front end is if you like. (within certain limits of course).

the sled is all set now completely done, (except for the pioneer 2.3 kg front springs which are on backorder) just waiting for rideable snow now, i think LOL!.

less than 4 weeks and we will be heading to togwotee pass at the continental divide in wyoming. with any luck we will ride a bit with mtdream in the bozeman montana area as well.

on a side note you guys gotta see grapeape's new creation. his apex mountain, is no less than awesome. might not be boosted but, she looks fantastic. i got the first look at her today. cant wait to see these three sleds on the snow, in the steep and deep. ski
 
Got a dumb question for you...I am a flat lander....is the timbersled front end not really trail friendly? It sounds like with all of the potential adjustments, it would a great addition to my Nytro.

very narrow front end. could be used for trail sleds, just wont be as wide as the current modern trail sleds. but then all sleds were narrow years ago. just would be personal preference. but on my 08 mtx, now i dont have to worry about my upper or lower ball joints. and i have learned to like my narrow front end on and off trail. ski
