So when i installed the osp belt deflection adjuster there was no side to side play on my secondary.
Stock configuration the secondary floats about an 1/8 inch back and forth side to side
I did remove the 2ndary and remove the three bolts and washers.
Is this normal. Or should there be float with the osp adjuster installed. Or does it sit tight on the helix face.

On mine I don't feel the float but it floats once your hit throttle. I asked the same question but to get the deflection right I couldn't move it by hand. Never had any issue since and that was 2000 miles ago.

So there is no play side to side on the secondary clutch shaft. With osp adjuster installed.

That's how mine works. I can't generate any float by hand when my adjuster sets the belt with the correct deflection. I had OSP look at it while I was at their shop last year.

I think you have float, just can't manipulate it by hand. Once riding it will float.

With the right belt deflection set on the adjuster You only get float once the clutch starts to shift. When shut off there is no float.
I have used one for over 13000 km On my sled and no problems.

Mine has no float at rest either....I remember reading last year prior to purchase that is the case.

Ok thanks i just wasn't sure because the way it has play in stock configuration vs no play with the belt set correctly on the 2ndary sheaves and 3 bolts removed from the backside. On the other hand i see bop upgraded there version.

Thanks just wanted to make sure.
Because problems on the trail suck and i didn't want to start blowing belts or something stupid . sometimes stupidity hurts!

That's the way they are designed!
No float until secondary is in motion

So if there is no float at initial engagement to properly align the clutches I'd think that there is a possibility of misalignment at engagement which could contribute to premature belt wear. I'm not a fan of the belt adjuster because the OEM setup works well without adding additional components. I don't see any advantage or performance gains by running it and would rather spend my money elsewhere. I guess I just don't see the need for it on these clutches.

When adjusting belt, is it suppose to ride flush with secondary or below just a bit?

All I can say is I got 8500km out of an 8nd belt with the osp adjuster installed.

Adjuster really isn't about performance IMO. It just makes it easier or quicker to adjust the belt without having to pull off the secondary and screw around with washers.

And you can get just as good mileage on a belt without it. How often do you adjust for a belt? Once a year...... or maybe never. My Nytro has 10,000 mile on it and I might have adjusted belt deflection once several years ago.

Adjusting belt height is a performance adjustment.

I dont disagree with you just want to say the belt adjuster never hurt my belt aliment .
