Apex clutch doesnt. Switched to one this season and it is definitely quieter but they are hard to come by. It has set screws for rollers and weight pins.
Is the Apex clutch the same as the Nitro and Vipers... or different? Even dating back to the old SRX's?
This may be a good option to try.
Apex is direct bolt on all parts for Nytro and Vipers. Srx clutch will not work. I believe the cutouts in spider are smaller. Is the Apex clutch the same as the Nitro and Vipers... or different? Even dating back to the old SRX's?

NYTurbo can you give us some more details. Total miles, tune, miles tuned, clutch setup, miles on that clutch setup, etc.
X2 on details,
machined for more Overdrive with stock gearing.

Well my 2009 Nytro runs today with the stock primary and secundary from 2009 with 390hp. Thunder Products Heavvy Hitters on it from 2010. Rollers changed just 2 times. And it is also machined for overdrive!Remember the Phazers and Exciters from the 80's and early 90's. 56-75 hp. Oh wait, that's how much power we are adding with a tune. That's right, the entire amount of power that propelled most of us in those days. On top of 204 hp. Just think about that for a minute before crucifying their clutch system.
This Sidewinder Primary clutch is junk!

So what is the logic here. What is better about the Apex clutch?Well my 2009 Nytro runs today with the stock primary and secundary from 2009 with 390hp. Thunder Products Heavvy Hitters on it from 2010. Rollers changed just 2 times. And it is also machined for overdrive!

My Nytro only had the 170hp trail supercharger. and the clutch on it cracked where the spider is molded around the inner steel portion. The crack then continued on and caused one of the roller mounts to break right off coming through the bracket right in front of my foot.
So am I going to spend one dime on another clutch that I see is not superior in any significant way?

The webbing is thicker on the moveable sheave four stroke clutches compared to the clutches on the last 2 strokes Yamaha had.Apex is direct bolt on all parts for Nytro and Vipers. Srx clutch will not work. I believe the cutouts in spider are smaller.

I would run all day long with a Apex and a Nytro Primary clutch on my Sidewinder with 390hp. I dont wanna use this sidewinder Primary that is another weeker design on anyting, maybe on a stock Viper. The Apex and Nytro clutch can handle big power,i know. But the Sidewinder clutch i think we will se maaany broken and also those that are not tuned, just wait and see. I just hope nobody gets hurt.So what is the logic here. What is better about the Apex clutch?

The new design in comb with the lighter stub shaft is making the break.Where is it weaker?

I don't plan on my taking my Winder past the 270ish mark. I just like fast trail running on pump gas. If I was going to run past 300hp for sustained periods of time I would go with a higher end aftermarket, or the TEAM, certainly not the Apex clutch.

I'd have no concerns going to Apex. Been proven on big HP. But to each their own

What about the new design? Where the weights mount is slightly different, but I can't say that the Apex is any more meaty in that area. The new design in comb with the lighter stub shaft is making the break.

Take the rollers out of the Apex clutch like the first pic in this thread, and see how long it lasts ....
