Primary clutch exploded

Washer is missing beside roller.... do u guys run without washers or rollers ?
Why doesn't someone take some washers or rollers out of their clutch see how far u can get ... lol
He said on FB that the roller bolt fell out and he found the parts in the belly pan to put it back together and get home. Probably couldn't find the other washer. That pic doesn't have much of anything to do with the rest of this thread.

I saw in another forum with another exploded clutch. I'm a bit afraid that will my turn next time. I was wondering if someone had gave a try with a pb80 ? If it's works we eliminate rattle and will be a cheap replacement vs team's conversion clutches.

Maintain your clutch. Check your roller and weight bushings.

I serviced a clutch yesterday, rollers were way beyond worn, weight bushings were out of spec. Guys are not paying attention to this stuff like they need to and this is what is causing failures. I'm not saying the clutch is perfect, I'm saying lack of service is causing many of the failures.

Yes for sure. I always keep an eye on them. Surely fine on stock but sometime I have a doubt on long pull at wot especially with a tune. A lot of pressure there.

Put this in my archive of notes....thanks.

I just pulled mine apart this week. All looked good for now.

2 more SW clutches blown apart this past weekend from a Wisconsin dealership.
Probably is the maintenance lack but also simply the clutch can't manage the winder power. I remember you showed us the little cracks near the allen screws. I didn't hear a lot of same issues with viper and Apexes primary with big HP

Both my clutches looked perfect with 4400 miles, I checked them over real thoroughly, had them all apart. I inspected all the rollers, bushings, pins then cleaned everything. The belt looked great too.....everything is stock. I think the original owner was an easy rider though.

We'll see how they hold up the way I ride it now.

You gotta realize that most big power apexs and nytros were basically one off expensive builds by guys who understood the clutch maintenance required, with the ease of getting 270 hp from a sidewinder, many guys just assume they are still a turn key sled... this is not the case. Rollers and wieghts are high wear items and need to be replaced often
