I put a line with a marker on primary clutch and there is still 1/2'' of marker showing at the top. What does this mean and how can I get the belt to come to the top of the primary?

Well without machining for overdrive the belt will not come the whole way to he top. When machined material at the center of the sheaves are removed so they can close all the way forcing the belt to the top. more interesting question is how far down in the secondary is the belt going.

Sorry I knew I wouldn't ride all the way to the top. I was just wondering why it was like this. Didn't have this problem with my nytro so just curious.

If you are going with stock clutching then you will need the helix Machine to , but a after market kit with a new helix will allow it to shift more

So I changed belts from the 8dn to the 8Jp and it did run higher on the primary. Now at a 1/4''. Happy with that but not happy with the belt dust. Has anyone had any luck with an aftermarket belt with no belt dust

I run 8dn length Gates carbon. No dust.

The Dayco XTX also works great but its 8DN length so if being that far from top of primary is a worry for you then stick with a 8JP length belt. Just so you know now that I geared up my belt is nowhere near the top of Primary and I love it! Position of belt in clutches doesnt mean a thing as long as you are happy with performance. Reason people including me talk about it is with ALL things being equal including power and gearing the further up the belt is the faster you will go because your clutching is more efficient.
