I've got the last big ride of the season planned tomorrow was just looking over the clutches on my 2017 sidewinder xtx and noticed 2 of the primary clutch rollers can be rotated freely, one can not be moved at all it seems seized. There will be zero chance I can fix this before tomorrow. How bad is it to ride about 300 km like this?

Well it wouldn't be good in that it will wear the weight out if its not rolling. If the busing is actually toast, you could also swing the weight past the roller and blow the clutch up depending on the weights being used. Not a good scenario.

All is not lost however if the roller and bushing is salvageable, pull the roller out and see if its just the bushing pushed to one side, this happens often. If it's not flat spotted and the bushing still looks OK but just pushed to one side, you can push the bushing back into the center of the roller and should get the day out of it. If the bushing is shot and egg shaped or if the roller is flat spotted it wont be able to be used and need replacing.

Thank you. I've got a Nytro just sitting around and the rollers look good on it. Am I able to use them??

Size of the roller may be different but it will get you going, I'd use them for the last ride if the others are toast.

Ya I took one out and the bushing is broken

Hey Knapp, a buddy of mine has a new take off primary clutch from a 2025 sidewinder. Would it work on my 2017?

Yes, it will work.

My current one is stock

There is a difference in clutch weight placement from the 17 to the 25 just so you know. The 25 has less tip weight in it compared the 17. They use a different secondary setup between the two years as well if you run stock stuff.

Ok so will it not work properly?

If you are going to run the clutch right off the 25 you'll want the 25's secondary setup in it. Otherwise just put your 17's weights into the 25 primary as long as they are still good and not wore out or shot.

Thanks... Man nothing can just be straightforward can it

Well its not that hard. You could just rob the rollers out of it and send it too. Its the same clutch except the primary weight rivet change.
