Well this sled was bought brand new with 0 miles on it this spring, but the electrical, radiator, and motor had been removed and sold to a guy over seas as he used it in some sort of air plane! I had a spare motor and most of the rest of the items missing.
Started life as a 2008 FX Nytro RTX....
You can see the motor, etc has been removed....
First modification! Vector gauge (since the gauge was missing as well)...
I bought a motor out of a wrecked sled with 1700 miles on it and will be installing it in this sled. So far I tore the motor apart to install JE Pistons and Carrillo rods as well as ARP head studs! Pictures of the tear down!
Piston at TDC on #3 cylinder = timing mark lined up on the flywheel and dots line up on the camshafts!
Cylinder head removed...
Magneto cover removed....
Bottom oil pan cover removed and oil pump removed!
Flywheel/Magneto assembly removed!
This is the ignition timing pick up on the FX Nytro motors (toothed gear which a electronic eye picks up (little black dot in the case).
Lower half of the crankcase removed!
Counter balance shaft drive gears!

Cool project Allen I look forward to following this one.
I also use child labour. My assistant is 4 but she is actually pretty handy sometimes. Other times not so much.

Took all the brackets, etc off the running boards! We will be using the Skinz Air Frame running boards so the running boards themselves will also get cut completely off with a plasma cutter!
All items removed...
Tunnel extension done and ready to rivet on!

i am interested to know what u think of those air boards Allen.
1. Is there a increase in weight?
2. Would a size 13 foot get hooked in the front support?
3. Will the tunnel be strong enough at the 2 mount spots or will it ballon from us stout folk?
Thanks

I do not have the running boards yet, it will be a week or so before they arrive.
I do plan to get a 3/16" or 1/4" thick aluminum plate laser cut that will strengthen the side of the tunnel where the suspension mounts and run the full length of the sides of the tunnel along with the running boards as well.

Yes it is a custom tunnel extension I had Tom @ Hartman make for this project since I was using a 121" FX Nytro as a base model I needed a longer tunnel extension than he normally offers.

Spent most of the day on Friday working on the MPI under tunnel heat exchanger kit. This items instructions leave a little to be desired. On the top side of the heat exchangers the holes are predrilled for you to install the brackets right on and locate it in the tunnel (I used one rivet hole by the rear muffler bracket (near the tail light) to locate the coolers). Then you must clamp them into position and drill the remaining holes in the tunnel. After that you must locate where you want to put the brackets on the sides of the coolers & tunnel. I marked all these out, then pulled the coolers out and drilled all the holes and riveted the brackets to the coolers. Also while I had the coolers out to put the brackets on I made the required holes for the hoses to run through the front of the tunnel, then reinstalled the coolers, riveted in the top side and drilled through the side of the tunnel and riveted in the sides. Kind of a long process, lots of photos! It turned out looking great in the end!

This is how I did the Vector gauge mounting to the FX Nytro panel. I bought a RAM mount and located it and now have an adjustable gauge!
Drilled the hole pattern into the stock gauge location.
Made an aluminum "backing plate" to give the plastic a little rigidity.
Base installed.
Then I measurened the hole center to center and drilled it into the other end of my RAM mount.
Installed the rubber grommets and screws!
Short, tall position!
Extended reach position!
