Proper way to tow a dead sled?

We put tie down bumper to bumper with about three feet between sleds. After removing belt of coarse.
Snow from tow sled does not come up on hood so rider can see where they are going. Ride on dead sled to use brakes as needed.
Pic is ran out of gas trying to stretch it as far as possible.

Pretty slick idea but the log on the ski is supporting the log that the track is sitting. Goal was to tow sled without spinning the track. I've used a kids sled before but when in the bush, that right there is pretty darn smart. ;)!
It worked better than expected. That way the logs don't bite the ground slide right over the snow.

What do you guys do? I have seen people just wrap the the ski tips and pull with no rider, but man that seems hard on the steering equipment?

Others hook the spindle and have someone ride and steer and brake

I am taking the SW on its first ride after I am pronouncing it all fixed this weekend, wish me luck!
No way would I tow that sled back, call the dealer and tell them where its at! Good luck.

Just did this a few weeks ago chaincase bearing went. Strap through ski loop around spindles. No rider . Two logs under track resting on one across skis. Worked pretty good.

That is a great Idea, brake the traction of the track- if not spin- with a small branch/log and drag it easier. Great thing to know I hope I never use. Lol. The valley tin Idea only worked as the guy broke down his NON MAINTAINED Cat right near a town and we had access to a Hardware store, Now we nearly always have access to tree branches......Hmmm great idea

Ha ha
Whats up dude?
We used a rental sled as a tow sled so nobody's belt gets damaged towing.
Also I dont care what make of sled a person drives.
Its all about enjoying the sport.

A couple years ago I was the one who got to tow a blown up Ski doo with my Yamaha. I was so proud to be at the front end of this instead of the tow of shame. Pictures and videos were sent to our other ski doo friends. Yes it can happen to anyone and you do what you have to do to get off the trails. Sorry I got off topic.

You know that's bad Karma...right? Now it's just a matter of time before you're on the hook behind a doodoo...LOL

On a serious note Kinger, I truly hope your issues are behind you now.

couldn't have said it better myself...got to get that vision out of my head

always my infamous tow at the ty ride 10 years ago with an sx500r rear axle up on the bumper on my 05 rx war strapped down and bro riding the skis on the sxr as we towed it to the bar at big springs. sxr broke a drive axle and was fastest/easyest way to tow it as it was getting dark.

Proper way is lift ski of towed onto bumper of towing sled leaving back of ski dragging in snow. Tie ski around spindle and bumper as tight as you can get it. Have rider of dead sled hop on your Yamaha with you and drive. I have towed using Phazer at 40+ mph like this and you hardly notice it back there.
I have done it this way as well, works awesome! I towed this doo for over 200 km, plus the person can ride with you instead of a cold dead sled.
