You have a power to weight ratio of 1:4.3. 1hp for every 4.3lbs on that e-tec. The nytro stock with a 250lb rider is 1:5.5. You should toast him no matter what...but then I guess its all about whos getting the most hp to the track...that said, you throw a guy my weight (145lb) on a nytro with 15 extra hp over stock(if possible) and you have a power to weight ratio of 1:4.3. Does it then come down to who's the better cheater??

Do you have a gps unit to see how much the speedo is off? I heard it was off by 7 mph when a guy tested 2 or 3 different etecs. Just curious
I'll have to check my belt deflection...

I ran dirks brother (he's 250 and Im 215) and I was at least 6 sled lengths by the time I hit 100
trust me , the nytro does not run with the etec...period...no stock nytro will run with it setup apples to apples..i.e. studs..etc
dirks nytro would be on the fast side of modded non boost nytro's and is well broken in...
so, a well broken in nytro with about $2000 worth of mods can sniff the bumper of the etec ...some of the time...on a etec in break in mode with less than 100 miles on it..(even weight to even weight...maybe 3 lengths?)
let it hit break in mode "off" and let me add the same money in mods and even a well tuned apex might need a rope and hook to hang on...this sled is very fast for a brand new and tight sled
oh and btw after the ride....we noticed the belt deflection was set incorrectly...raised the belt..then almost threw me off on a launch!
in the trails rider to rider of equal skill...nytro cant hang...period ..
this said...I still consider myself a yamaha man...wish they'd "bring it" so I wouldnt have to stray!
I had a feeling you were itching for the new e-tec. Glad to hear your liking your new ride.. I really would like to see you run an Apex XTX with some miles.. Keep us posted sj...

My buddies 08 XP 800R would it 119 on the speedo....that came out to 109 on the gun, Doo speedos are very much like Yamaha speedos...dream-o-meters.

Ha ha steve you were never 6 sleds never. Dennis who weighs 170 to my 250 never got 6 sleds ahaid of me. That's why I love this drag racing talk everyone has an inflated win total. I watched the race from behind they went from a roll and it was no more then 4 sleds. And my brother weighs 260 and I weigh in the 250's with gear.
When I raced my brother with him on the etec he got me by one sled in a long race.
Next time I'm taking videos I'm sick of the lies

Your top speed recall said 117 Not 119.
I think you should start repping for skidoo. You sound like just everyone of those guys on doo talk right now. Oh my sled did 119 with 90 miles on it. Give me a break

I stand corrected on the top speed of 117.. dennis told me he didnt hold it wide open since it was in break in mode...he hit that....which I guess to be around 109 gps...
to answer a question posted here...119 I believe from what Ive heard is 112
what did I tell you when I had the turbo...and ever since...youre always faster Jason... youre more competitve than me...thats just the way it is..
as to how far ahead of john I was...well I guess my vision isnt as sharp as yours...it felt like a real lot...and pretty quick..and you saw from behind the lengths...haha...we went from about a 10 roll to 100....that had to cover what between an 1/8 and 1/4 mile and you saw the lengths from behind??? haha..
and somehow I bet if you owned this sled it would have had a different post...
next time YOU wont be the one racing MY sled with your homer on YOURS then posting the results..lol
either that or I sell the sled for something slower (I OFFERED TO TRADE FOR YOURS) just to make you happy ...lol

Shaddow I know and thats why I said dreameter...
all I can say is this...is it a yamaha no...
but its way faster than my attak or my nytro ever thought of being with miles before mods for sure and after a lot of miles...
dirks sled is well broken in and well modified...tuned and tested...
mine had less than 100 and had the belt set wrong...
I love yamaha...but this sled runs

Weight (in my experience ) has no differance on top end. My nytro last spring was running 119mph on the speedo with me at 195lbs. My buddy at 265lbs gets on and he runs 119mph ,I get on his attack and it runs the same top end that he was running. Pissed me off cause I thought my weight loss would translate to top end. Not on the 4s. Maybe the 2s

who said stock?

daranello..
weight matters in 0-100 (inertia...a body at rest remains at rest...a body in motion) much more than top speed...
one thing is for sure...I dont like the crap team tied secondary setup on this sled...the yamaha clutching system is much better at higher speeds...

I was able to ride this past weekend with two of my buddies in the u.p., one of which has a '11 800 e-tec, the other has a '11 Apex xtx. Did a little bit of racing(I was flagman since I had no chance against either) and found the two sleds to be very close in top end, the Apex taking 4 of the 6 races. Race length was a little over 1/4 mile and each race was within a couple of sled lengths. Both had zero miles when we left the motel friday afternoon and both were bone stock. The only problem was, at 117 miles on the E-tec's odometer, she blew up. So my apex friend and I got to take turns pulling it back to the motel

to tell the truth..I really wasnt ...I just needed a sled with some pop...that handled well and everything worked well....I looked for another nytro already setup....couldnt find it....for what it is...its a decent sled...really fun....but still a 2 stroke...so to me overpriced...
and in the end Id bet a well set up apex will best it by a tad....
if the apex would have stayed the same or lost some weight... I would have gone that direction...
