I was able to ride this past weekend with two of my buddies in the u.p., one of which has a '11 800 e-tec, the other has a '11 Apex xtx. Did a little bit of racing(I was flagman since I had no chance against either) and found the two sleds to be very close in top end, the Apex taking 4 of the 6 races. Race length was a little over 1/4 mile and each race was within a couple of sled lengths. Both had zero miles when we left the motel friday afternoon and both were bone stock. The only problem was, at 117 miles on the E-tec's odometer, she blew up. So my apex friend and I got to take turns pulling it back to the motel ;)!

no kidding...no wonder it was slower it was melting down..lol

I better hurry cuz I only got another 27 miles before she blows lol

seriously...we all know it aint a yamaha motor...and even if its faster it aint the same quality of motor period...

do me a solid and let me know what dealer he's taking it back to for service so I can keep
track of the details and what they find etc..
I will try to do my best at finding out what went wrong as he doesn't really want to talk to us anymore after the hard time we were giving him this weekend! LOL. It was a very nice handling sled for 117 miles though.

Now in fairness this etec is brand new. So it will get a little faster. But not much faster. We'lll see soon
Do not race him when he has got ten hours on it. Then the break in mode will go away and he will have full horsepower and a power curve that is matching his clutch setup.

I think they are just racing for bragging rights, nothing more. Someone over there needs a helmet cam so we can see this! I'll post results after i'm done setting mine up and run it jan 16th at the radar runs. I'm hoping theres a new e-tec there with a 300lb+ guy with carbide studs.
