Well decided to tackle a oil change and chain case service while I was there mainly for peace of mind. Previous owner told me he had it all done at a shop But just wanted to know for myself so needless to say I tore into and as soon as we got the oil tank out and started to remove the black torx screws for the chaincase I found that they broke the cover and didn’t even bother screwing another bolt all the way in! So if anyone know of a new cover I am shopping befor I order new

Try Travis at Barn Of Parts. I dont see how this happens. You just have to be careful. I still have original thin tab 14 cover and gasket on mine. Has to have been of and on at least 10 times! New ones have thicker tabs and gasket so should be less issues.

When you over tighten those screws they will break. BTW, its great that you did your own work but not everyone is even remotely capeable of doing this work. Just wanted to point that out. I have seen people that think they know do more damage by not taking their time and making sure things are correct.

I completely understand what your saying, I’m a bit more capable then most I’m sure with years of working at a Harley dealership and many years racing but with the proper manual it really is just follow the stepsWhen you over tighten those screws they will break. I have long said that this chaincase should be treated like your Grandmas fine China! If anyone is dumb enough to look at the case and not realize that they have no business touching anything on a Snowmobile. Even at the Factory. Have seen more tabs broke directly from Factory than anywhere else.

I'm the only one that has worked on my machine. But had a chain case get a airline crack in back half, it was cover under warranty so had to take it to dealer. When I got the sled home and check it out I heard a winning nose in chain case. So I took it a apart, this noise was a washer in the wrong place. they had the inside washer that goes behind the top gear on the out side ridding on the spline. This in why I do my own work. also found a few tools on floor of sled.

I'm pretty sure I have a chain case cover from a 2015 SR Viper that had less than 30 miles on it when crashed. Email me and I will look tomorrow. Srxspec@Gwtc.net

How about a couple of those EZ Drain kits? Do I have to beg for them?
