Yes, but we took the drive belt off before we towed him.So was it still stuck in reverse while you were towing him?

I think my relay is not making connection when it's cold. I will clean and report back.

just a thought but if you towed him with the sled stuck in reverse he might want to open up his chain case to make sure nothing is striped or broke!Yes, but we took the drive belt off before we towed him.
It might of damaged something in the reverse assembly? i'm thinking track would have been locked up when pulling forward or it just released when you gave that first tug forward!!
with the belt off it would have still been locked up in reverse

It would just spin the secondary clutch in reverse if it was stuck in gear. The actuator slides the internal spline on the gear on the jack shaft to engage the external spline on the "top gear". Its either in or out. You'd hear it grind if it was partially engaged.

I have a xf 7000 with the Yamaha motor. I had to replace my actuator. When I got if from cat he said new part number, meaning they have been upgraded since mine was put in at the factory. My sled is a 2014. I see no physical difference. Installed it last week, so early to tell, but it works fine.
Also for you guys that are having issue when cold, Yamaha was having issue with all relays, including fuel. They make a cold weather relay, you can get new cold weather for like $12, If yours are the cold ones they will have a red dot, if not I think the ones that are failing have a blue dot. So you may want to check all relays to see if cold weather, your fuel pump for sure.

I think yamaha has a new and improved indent block on the reverse actuator, i think this was a recall but not 100% sure. This was there answer for the malfunctions with the reverse feature does your sled have the updated indent block for the reverse..
Remember to lube it with grease when you change your chain case oil.

My actuator failed this past week also. I removed the plastic gear and rotated it aprox 120 degrees it in the counter clockwise direction and reinstalled and it's back working like new. The new updated brass gear should eliminate most all the actuator gear failures.
Mine failed in second season I believe. New one has been flawless for well over 5-6000 mi. I wonder if its brass gear?Is the 347 part# Janne has on his brass one a reliable indicator?

Last two trips to Munising and reverse never worked in the morning. Let sled warm up all the way (190ish) and it starts working and works all day. At home after three hours in the trailer, cold again and wont go into reverse. let it warm up and still no go. Tap on the switch block a few times and bingo all works. I had this apart to change grips so maybe related. I have two vipers that are ridden in the same manner and conditions. Both get rolled downhill to unstick, and both get completely covered in powder, yet, my LTX is the only one that does this. I'll guess I'll have to go back into the throttle block and see what I can see....Exact same happens to me. Gonna try a new relay or clean up the current one. Every morning it won't back out of the trailer. Then works the rest of the day..

I think the brass gear is a fairly new update, my actuator was replaced just last season under warranty and it has the plastic gear.
