Im looking at two options for this year and Id like some input from guys with real world experience. Im currently riding an 05 RX1 that Ive owned since new but this year I want to move up. My two choices are the Apex XTX and the new RS Venture GT with 144 in track...Im well aware the XTX will blow the Venture away when it comes to power...But the venture ride quality seems excellent from what I've read from different magazines... my question is, how does the new Apex XTX ride quality compare...It has to be smoother than my 05 RX1 with a 121 incher...Plus the Power Steering must be a great feature. Any advice ?

I can give you my 2 cents...
I had a 121" '06 RTX that was my first sled after being on a SXR. I thought it rode like a dream!
Then I got an '08 40th Apex with a 136" skid and loved it more than the 121".
Traded the '08 for an '11 XTX at the end of the season last year, and managed 30kms (15miles) on it before my riding buddy (a Polaris) ruined my day and blew a bogie wheel off his sled.
For the distance I rode that '11, I was extremly happy!
The PS was awesome (after I got used to it) and the sled handled like a dream!
I'm 6' and around 260lbs with gear on, so once I get it setup right, I should be golden. (Until I trade it for a Viper in a couple of years!!)

Thanks for the info...I have no doubt the 144 will out ride the 121 by a long shot...
Have a 13 RS Venture Gt and it rides an handles great. Get's 15 mpg all the time, best 17 mpg. I use the back rest all the time. Put on a set o Sno-trackers. an it will rail.even for a big sled! I set front an rear suspension soft on it rides like I'm in my easy chair.

Sounds like you're ready to pull the trigger. I wish you had the opportunity to test ride the XTX 144 skid right now and form your own conclusion. I bought a 2012 leftover Apex XTX back in January, and this is my personal opinion:
Love the power and power steering, but the CK 144 is not for me. I thought I was making the right choice, but it absolutely beat me up! After 2000 miles and trying all the different settings, I came home and chucked that skid in the corner.
To be fair, I believe this skid suffers from poor shock valving and shocks from the factory. Either way, I decided to not spend money on shock recalibration and went a different route.
From what I've read on here, some riders love the stock skid. Seems like the guys in the 250 lb + range get along with this skid well. I weigh 185, so maybe that contributed to my opinion of the 144.
Good luck and let us know what you do.

My Apex XTX is OK for ride. Nothing Special. I run 200 lbs dressed.
Not sure I like it any better for smoothness than the 05 RX1 Mono I had back in the day. It was pretty good.
Both sleds are / were boosted though so I paid more attention to other things than the rear skid !!!!!

I absolutly love mine i do run 280 dressed so may be something to that but i had the 121 mono and the rx1 proaction and people say the mono is like a cadilac but i love the xtx best ride i have ever had can go all day with no fatigue everyone else is suffering when it gets rough and i just go faster. it makes rough trails smoother the power steering is awesome and the throttle is like it has ESP the sled jumps before you even touch it. also the tipped up rails work for cornering and it is way more off trail capible then any other yamaha i have owened. very hard to sink it can stop and restart in the deep stuff with no worrys.

Thanks for the real world info guys, Im only 150lbs soaking wet so the XTX may not be for me unless theres an ultra-soft setting...lol Maybe I'll stick to my original plan and go with the RS Venture GT with EPS as everyone says the ride quality is excellent.

The XTX suspension is made to handle bumps and rough trails. Its not meant for comfort. The XTX is probably not for you.

I bought a 2013 in March and put 2300 miles on it. I wasn't really happy with the ride so I started to make adjustments. Had on 08 LTX GT so it I can tell you it doesn't ride as good as that did. The 08 had way better shocks all the eay around plus the advantage of the rear electric shock. That was great. It is more of a sports car ride firmer than what many may like but pretty good for handling. I am going to have my shock revalved this year and if that doesn't do it then I will be putting a set of Hygear shocks with dual rate springs. More smiles per mile!

The Apex XTX is not a real smooth ride as they are made for bigger bumps which it does very well at. They are very stable and are easy to drive in a strait line through the biggest of bumps. The Apexs are more harsh than the Nytro XTX which my son has. The front shocks aren't bad for what they are but, they are no Ohlins for sure.
I installed the Star Suspension geometry correction kit in mine last year and it helps ride quality significantly. In fact a little too soft but, the hook up is un-real. At 3,600 miles, I had all my shocks re-done by Hygear this year so will see how this does.
I love the sled and the power steering. They do have more power than the previous Apexs regardless of what others may say. ( we have several in our riding group).
