I talked with Bruce at Tracks USA today and he said he talked with a test rider from SnoTech that rode this track for about 1000 miles this winter. He described the track as very good and like it had studs. Has anyone tried this track yet or know of anyone who has. I am trying to decide on either a 9818 or Ripsaw. I am leaning towards the Ripsaw. I am not going to stud. I am going to Warriorize my sled this summer. Only 7 more months until the white stuff flies.

!!

No track that is unstudded on ice will feel like it has studs. Half the reasons I stud my tracks is due to breaking concerns.

From your launch pictures it appears you may be doing it for hole shot also. I agree, I had to ride my Viper the weekend I picked it up without studs-I felt bad for what I did to the trails and almost killed myself 5 times-like learning to ride all over. Boston-how can you ride in New England without studs? I wish it was possible but I know in Pittsburg it gets pretty icey on weekends.

JTS is correct. There are two points where studs are going to help. Hookup and Stopping power. I stud every one of my sleds for the stopping power. Rubber on ice just won't stop you no matter how much friction you're trying to develop.

I refuse to own a non studded snowmobile. This winter was great for nonstuded sleds in the northeast, but there are still too many situations where you need them to stop.

Studs

Especially if you are from Boston. You want studs. Let's face it the trails around here have ice. 8)
