Again my family and I were heading up to the cabin for the weekend. This time around we managed to hit the road friday afternoon. At the parking lot loading up the Nila.
We had a lot of stuff with us.... as usual. I drove wifey and the girls up to the cabin, then I returned for the sleigh load of stuff one depend on during a weekend at the cabin LOL
Saturday morning the girls wanted to go figure skating on the lake. They put their skates on and off we went to find some glare ice to skate on, no problem finding glare ice as the lake is holding very little snow and have a lot of ice to skate on.
It's actually their first time on the ice skating, I think they did pretty good for beeing rookies
Sunday morning weather was cold -18 C or 0 F on the lake, it was clear blue skies and sunshine at noon.

The kitchen.
The nice weather made us go out riding to get the first glimpse of the sun. We got dressed and figured out where to go to get the best look at the sun. While the adults were getting ready the girls were playing outside the cabin.
Before taking off I shot a few pics towards the sun, it's hidden in the forest so we had to go higher up to get a better look at it.
We rode the trail to the east up towards the Sarveš valley, we stopped on top of a ridge and got a nice view of the sun.
It was nice to finally have the sun back after the big sleep, the polar night is officially over

This is my first real ride of the season on my turbo sled.

Outside my house, warming up the sled before takeoff.
I started out riding up the Brennelva river, but I had to turn around shortly after entering the river. The river had flooded a few days earlier and then frozen over again and with the inch of snow we god last night it was kinda slippy with no traction whatsoever. When I came up on some small floodings I had to turn around, no way to ride thru the floodings on glare ice without studs, this season I wish I've had studs !!! it icy all over the place, on the river, the lakes, the swamplands.....
I stopped in the middle of the swamplands close to home to check under the hood, this was after approx 14 kms or 9 miles of riding.
I have oil coming out the Vortech, not good, luckily is very minor more like a few drops.
There's very little snow close to home, here's what the swamplands looks like when it comes to snow cover... or the lack of

I stopped by my good friend Sneip1fmx, he's rebuilding his dads old Yamaha 500 XT. He's about to pull open the engine to have a look at it. The motor has turned 20000 kms or 12450 miles hard miles ridden most of the time by sneip1fmx.

I rode some more before I called it the day. I found a lake with large enough snow drifts along the shores to give it WOT for 50 meters or 150 ft, MAN how the sled pulls when I got some tracktion... whooooohooooo there she goes, the throttle response is awesome. We desperately need more snow, please.....

Today was another test ride to check the sled for leakage, AFRs and boost pressure.

I rode around and found a lake with enough snow to do a few WOT runs. I didn't hold it WOT for more than 50 meters or 150 ft, but it was enough to put load on the motor to check AFRs and boost level. AFRs was 11.5 and boost level was 15 lbs when I let off. Sled rocks now
I still have a small leakage out the charge tube and probably the exhaust as well because of no restrictor in the feed line to the turbo. I have the restrictor on order from Hurricane, will ship today.
I also found that the skis are a few millimeters toe in, sled is darting some on the trail, will have to adjust.

After some lake riding we called it the day and returned to the cabin.
Sunday at noon we drove down to the parking lot to pics up some stuff from our car before riding north across the lake.
Girls are ready to leave for a day out in the great outdoors.
After crossing Lake Gagga we stopped to say hi to the crowd gathered on the shore of Lake Čeggujavrit, some people we knew and some we didn't.
Before leaving I shot this pic of the Gaissa mountain range in the distance to the west.
We took off an rode down the valley to Lake Bajit Ruššajavrit where we lit up the campfire. To make it easy we use to bring dry wood to make campfire an easy task, I know I'm cheating here LOL.

We found a nice spot to lit the campfire... no not yet... but I lit the fire after going back to the cabin for matches, MAN I was out of matches grrrr for not checking before leaving the cabin. Guess what wifey asked me if I had matches and I said yes of course I have..... not so, but it was fun riding fast back and forth, first adrenaline rush of the season LOL.
After getting the campfire going my good friend Mikkel drove by, he saw us and came back for a cup of coffee. Sorry about your small hickup on your sled, guess you have already ordered the parts needed to stop that small oil leakage you had. Luckily he showed me the oil leak, I spotted a huge crack in the secondary clutch, it reached half way to the center of the clutch. He cracked his primary at full speed earlier this season, guess the secondary took a beating.

Snow conditions are pretty good up at the cabin
We left the kitten behind in the cabin and went for a few hours of riding in the area. We started out riding towards the west. Here's a pic shot towards the west, Mount Vuollanjunnisgaissa straight ahead in the distance.
Weather was nice so we made a stop up in the swamplands west of Skuvvanvarri.

Time to ride some more, but first I had to shoot a few more pics of our sled.
The trail ahead to the west towards Alta on the far side of the Finnmarksvidda plains.
To the east towards Skuvvanvarri were we came from.
We decided to take the trail north towards Lakselv (home town), noone had ridden the trail since the last snowfall so we had to break trail up the hill. The trial goes into the Pine forest straight ahead.
We're on top of Mount Silbáčohkka. It was blowing pretty hard up there.

When driving back home from the cabin we encountered three moose alongside the road between the parking lot and the highway. They didn't care a bit about us taking pics as they kept on grazing on small trees and bark of larger trees.

We left the kitten behind in the cabin and went for a few hours of riding in the area. We started out riding towards the west. Here's a pic shot towards the west, Mount Vuollanjunnisgaissa straight ahead in the distance.
Weather was nice so we made a stop up in the swamplands west of Skuvvanvarri.

Time to ride some more, but first I had to shoot a few more pics of our sled.
The trail ahead to the west towards Alta on the far side of the Finnmarksvidda plains.
To the east towards Skuvvanvarri were we came from.
We decided to take the trail north towards Lakselv (home town), noone had ridden the trail since the last snowfall so we had to break trail up the hill. The trial goes into the Pine forest straight ahead.
We're on top of Mount Silbáčohkka. It was blowing pretty hard up there.

We decided not to ride into plains because of the strong winds at altitude, we headed straight back to the cabin.

When driving back home from the cabin we encountered three moose alongside the road between the parking lot and the highway. They didn't care a bit about us taking pics as they kept on grazing on small trees and bark of larger trees.
Next years steak still fresh in the woods
September and October is moose hunting season up north.

Yet another short ride. Actually this day all I did was breaking trail for next weekends hauling of firewood out of the forest, nice to have a good hardpacked trail when towing load with a shorty 121" sled.

Checking AFR at idle, almost perfect.
First stop up in the Ročhi valley some 15 miles or 25 kilometers from home. We were looking for any signs of leakage in the oil and water lines to the turbo. No leakage found, but we found some melting plastic, more insulation needed.
Old pirat one eye.
The screw on the upper left on the tank covling melted thru the plastics, it's getting heat from the frame enough to melt thru the plastics. I removed the screw and added some more insulation in a few offending spots. The plastics are not melting when riding, it's melting 5-10 minutes after riding when heat dissipates upwards from the turbo and downpipe.
After a short break down in the valley we headed further up the valley to Lake Gammevann, conditions were pretty darn good at the lake, about a foot of snow and no snow drifts. We did our testing at this lake before returning home to the Turbo Garage for some minor insulating and adjustments.

When home I discovered that I hadn't used a single drop of meth.....
SHOCK luckily I had not turned up the boost any as I was still running off the waste gate boost pressure.
Found an install error grrrrrr how the h... did that happen, must have been drunk at the time of install. While fixing the problem I added a lot of insulation to the meth lines in a few offending spots to keep the lines from melting.
WHY ON EARTH DIDN'T I TEST THE METH SYSTEM PRIOR TO RIDING THE SLED. My motor survived only because I managed to resist the urge to turn up the boost, if I had done that it would have went KABOOOOM.
Lessons learned - always do a systems test before putting any load on the motor......... and do not
while installing stuff on a turbo sled. HAHAHAHAHAppy camper still I am LOL

At one of our breaks a huge blizzard passed by us a few miles of to sea, and even it was in the middle of the day at noon the sky went completely dark bluish grey.
We pulled home 14 Rekka sleigh loads of birch trees
Work is done and sled is loaded up, I'm ready to leave for home. Thanks dad for all the firewood you provide for us, it's a pleasure to work with you

This post covers most of the riding done during the easter holydays, not much riding I'm afraid.

At my partents place. My mother, wifey and the girls on the Rekka timber sleigh. We're heading out into the bush to make up a campfire and relax by the fire, eating, fishing, meet up with friends and relatives.
Quite a few sleds gathered up at Lake Hellandervann close to Russenes and Olderfjord, a few miles from my parents house.
