Yet another weekend at Lake Gagga.

It's a beautiful sunny Sunday at noon. We're preparing for a ride in the sun.

Fresh snow on the deck. Makes up for a great day of riding with the family.

We're out camping at a lake 15 miles up north from Lake Gagga.

Back at the cabin, loading up for a evening ride on the lakes.

We bring our Persian Kitties to the cabin, we also take them out for a ride, our cats love ride in the Nila.

We rode north to Lake Ruššajávri.

It's a bit windy on the lake.

Mount Lemmivarre, very rocky terrain, but great fun for a skilled rider like myself

The ice is crystal clear and about 3-4 feet or 1 meter thick.

I decided to ride the sled back home instead of towing it in the trailer.

Up in Mount Lemmivarre, overlooking the Lakselv walley and Mount Merdávárri in the distance on the other side of the walley. Mount Divggagáissa in the far distance, a 3000 feet or 900 meter tall mountain wall.

Back home. Left the sled outside. Then we got dumped at nice.....

Me and my daddy went out this Saturday morning to haul some fire wood back home from the forest. My mother and the girls came with us to keep us company.


On our way back to my fathers house with a load of wood.

My father is 74 years old and still going strong.

We have a Rekka tow sled specially constructed for hauling heavy loads on narrow trails, this sled will always follow in the track behind the sled even when driving S-turns thru the woods, any other kind of sled would get stuck into the trees.

My daughter Amanda, Jenny and Linnea on the trail we made to be able to tow heavy loads of wood.

My mother and my girls lit a campfire, they had hot dogs, hot chokolate and soft drinks.

We hauled a total of 15 sled loads of wood today, enough to keep both our houses and our cabin warm for the next winter.



On Sunday we went out into the mountain.

Outside my parents house, packing up getting ready to go.

We rode out with our friends, we stopped by the trail waiting for them to catch up, here they come.

We're blessed with good snow and great riding condition on the open plains.

Pretty cool canyon. I have ridden up there on my turbo sled on spring snow, it's crazy steep and you need a lot of speed to get up there.

My cousing eating stock reindeer, salted and dried meat fron reindeer are a tradition among us Sámi people. Matter of fact in our region it's everybodies tradition to eat this kind of food when out camping. It's damn good, remember to bring water or beverages to keep the thirst away

Amanda is fishing on the lake hoping to catch a trout.

But no luck today, the trout would not bite.

We'll somebody else caught one, nothing big LOL.

She has the patient to become a great angler. She kept trying for a long time even tho she didn't catch anything.

She finally gave up. We're packing up ready to ride back home.

WOW conditions are perfect.

The famous SRX 700 is still around. Notice the number on the side of the sled. This guy is actually a drag racer on the trail with his race sled. He races the stock 800 class in the nationals, his results are pretty decent against the newer sleds. They have a few cups on their shelf.

Late in winter people put up tents to stay out for the weekend, it's an old tradition that many still live by.

People camp wherever they find shelter from the wind.

On the lake, weather is OK but it's blowing havily.

We're having a great time amid the wind. Temperature are just above freeze so it ain't cold.

The stunt pilots survived, now on the lake throwing snow at each other.

Next day, more campfire, we love beeing outside. The reindeer hydes keeps us work, the snowmobile gear works great as well. The girls have their own mini campfire.

It's May 4. It's been snowing at night and this morning, conditions are great. Temps are below freeze.
Outside my house.

Me and my friend Steinar trailered our sleds for 6 miles or 10 kilometers to Cáskil. Altitude at the end of the road is 1000 ft or 300 meters. Up here winter is still on full power, no melting to speak of and a lot of snow, conditions are as good as it gets for an ungroomed trail.

Up in the Luostejohka valley. Steinar's turf house. People still lived in houses like this one a 100 years ago. Cheap and easy to build. The traditional way, it's build from what you find in nature. This one is somewhat modern with a glass windows and a real production door. Modern madrasses.

The beast, my turbo sled.

We left some beverages for the summer season. It's pretty far from the nearest road, 30 miles or 50 kilometer at least. We dug it into a snow drift some distance from the turf house. It's not allowed to lock up the house so it's no good leaving anything of value inside, you gotta hide it outside somewhere.

We're on the far side of the Gaissa mountain range, home is somewhere beyond the mountains in the distance.

The Venture and the Beast.

A diffenret turf house. There's a lot of them in the forests surrounding the wasteland of the mountain plains. They come in handy if any survival situation occurs. I have been in them a lot over the years when weather has been to dangerous to ride in.

Not only cowboys; sledders do also ride into the sunset.

This canyon is called The Gates of Saint Peter, in Norwegian it's called Perleporten.

After the gate we climbed up to the top of a nearby mountain to get a this great view.

A few miles left.

The fences are there to keep the different reindeer herds from each other. It's a mess when 10000 reindeers from 2 herds mix together..... weeks of work, nobody wants that, except for the biggest herds out to steel someone elses smaller herd, unfortunately it happens from time to time. Stealing is very rare nowadays.

Steinar got stuck, but we managed to get him back out.

On the way down the mountain road I had to stop to shoot this gorgious view.

- Largest fish by weight
- Smallest fish by weight (the winner fish did not even tip the scale, a gram scale)
- Largest total amount of fish
- Largest total weight of fish

And that was the end of my 2011-2012 riding season. Not much but I had fun every time I was out, long or short rides a like.

I'll be back with more as soon as I'm up and running.
The 2008 Apex RTX is going to be extended to 136" adding a studded Cobra track.
New skis are on. Work will be documented in rxrider's turbo garage thread in the 4-stroke garage section.
