Second ride report

We missed you on monday tookes. We had a blast and rode Nikolai's Nytro, what a blast. That thing is soo easy to ride in the deep its not even funny. Makes me want to buy one but im gonna wait for the new apex to come out.

Where did you ride? We will hook up soon. I know it's ROCKS!! I hit a hard frozen creek bank and bent my A-arm, I did a superman off when I hit it. Hope a dealer has one in stock.

I used Pre-Filter mesh and it works great. I rode in super fine powder all weekend. Here's a picture, don't let the little ripples fool you the mesh is on there pretty flush.

Where you buy your pre-filter mesh i'am very interest, thank

I found this info on the sheets, the 18x18 will do the 4 main vents and the little one below the headlight plus the little vented one down by the brake area if you a good cutter. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip Tookes, I'll swing by there on Thursday and do the same thing. My screen was still letting alot of snow in. Glad you said something, I was going to order it from DennisKirk.

I did install the heavy Apex springs tonight which I can't wait to try out. They are way way stiffer on the softest setting than the MTX springs on the heaviest setting. Just can't decide whether I want the Venture shock or the Ohlins shock now.

Oh yeah, the bolts that hold the torsion spring retainer blocks and idler wheels on were bending, and the track nobs are slowly eating away at the bottom sides of the limiter straps. My hifax is about toast too.

I also talked to Anchorage Yamaha about the oil leaking problem and they said they are aware of it but have no fix. You can't put a check valve in the vent hose because the motor needs to be able to suck air back in(what they told me).

I was hoping you could put a vent plug in their so it doesnt spill. I bet you could but they are being careful for warantee purposes.

Where you riding this weekend Nikolai, let me know, i should be ready.

The hifax seems pretty soft and kind of layered. I've done alot of alder bashing and I'm sure sticks have gotten inbetween the track and hifax and it's made some pretty deep grooves in my hifax. I cut out all the sharp ends and will probably be good for a few more rides.

I put the pre-filter material on today and will try it out Saturday. It looks like it will work way better and should reduce 90% of the snow buildup.

Makes sense on the Hifax. I'll watch it.

Yeah I like the pre-filter, make sure you cover the little down by the chaincase.

Have fun for me, I'm waiting for my a-arms and spindle.

I got about 700miles on mine now and gotta change my hifax too. I hit a huge dirt lump last night which broke one of my hifax so that didnt help the wear and tear at all :o|
