I noticed while running on my lift the secondary does not consistently return fully . sometimes the belt rests at the top properly and some times it sits about 3/16 down in the sheave , what am i missing ?

Might depend on how much brake you are using to stop the track.

To much friction in the drive train and track compared to a Japanese built Yamaha.

I'm seeing the same . I'm thinking the spring tension needs to be increased if u want to see the belt come to the top . this will make the secondary clutch backshift faster which should bring the belt to the top easier . but I'm not sure how it will perform with the increased spring tension as i have not tried this yet .
i just installed the 33/35 helix with the dalton blk/orange spring . 6-1 hole setting , no difference the belt stills struggles to come to the top . if u play with the throttle u can make it shift and come to the top , but if u hit the throttle hard and release quickly , the belt won't shift to the top of the secondary , this is what I'm seeing on a jack stand also . once there is snow to test better I'm sure this issue will be resolved quickly .

This is normal. There is no load on the secondary and it won't always fully close. Check it when you ride it and make sure you coast to a stop and not hit the brake. I remember racing guys who would use their brake just before the starting line and I knew I had them because they would be starting in high gear.

LOL 10-4 on that. I used to love it when guys beside me would clean their out on the stand and jam on the brake before planting it.This is normal.
