I was wondering is the shock rubbing only on studded 1.25 ripsaw tracks. Is anybody seeing this on a studded or non studded 1 inch track . Maybe it is just the Ripsaws 1.25 that rub. Was thinking of droping the rear shock to fix rubbing issue . Would need to lower rear bolt hole slightly lower . Have a new 1 inch predetor but I am afraid to put it on .I have a buddy with a MCX Turbo Apex and has a 1 inch studded predetor on since new and he has no rubbing .

I think the answer will be a track rub eliminator kit. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=30784

Tried this have gone through 2 sets of bearings in aprox 1000 miles. Great idea not very durable

Really? I have a set on the Vector and after 1800 miles, they are still working great. I bet the cost of the bearings are minimal though compared to a new track and/or shock.

I have a 1 inch Predator and have NO rubbing.
What needs to be done instead of bearings to fix the problem, is the use of Nylon, much like the factory front rub protection on the Mono susp.

Maybe I'll come up with something this summer...........

Rub fix

I have Ulmer's rub kit on my Apex mono skid-works well. Only put on 500 miles, but it definately helps-no more rub marks on the INSIDE of track!

Ulmer is in the process of an updated design using a different "wheel" rather than a bearing which should prove to be the answer.

Believe he has a post inthe Mods section-still testing it fromwhat I recall.

my kit bearings got damaged too. I just put on a 1" hacksaw track a week ago and put in the same backers(angled double backers) in. i am going to replace the the angle ones & put in flat backers in the area where they touch the bearings to keep the back of the stud level with the track this time.

When useing this rub kit, are the bearings in constant contact with the track, espicially say when crusing down the trail at a constant ? mph?

The bearings aren't in constant contact with the track. We will be updating the design of the rub kit, but it will be more expensive due to machining costs. The new kit will be $70. I will try to take some pictures of the new design installedm, but here is an 3-D model of what it will look like.

TRACKRUBKIT.jpg

Kit Components:
2-Nylon Wheels
4-Roller Bearings
4-Shields to protect all the seals on the bearings
1-Replacement bolt

I noticed slight rubbing on stock ripsaw with no studs when I installed the big boy spring.

Looks like you're doing your homework Allen, keep up the great work! I'll be in line for hte new kit, it does look to be more durable.
Have you played with the idea that other are talking about, and just adding the wear pads like the front of the skid has?
Maybe you can confirm or deny this, but I would think track tenson would have alot to do with the wear issue, right?
Nate

Track tension

I personally don't see track tension as the problem, more so with the design of the mono skid and no wear pads to avoid contact of the track to the shock mount and shock.

Nate, the problem with just adding the wear pads is to really do it right you need to weld a bracket on the cross tube with 2 bolting points for the wear pad to attach (the Attak has a mount like this). I don't think track tension has a lot to do with it. I have measured quite a few of the rear arms and it seems as though there is a variance in the position in which the shock mount ears are welded on.

1600 kils. with studded track, no problems with mine yet. This is a great idea and the new design looks like it will be more durable. At $25 this was a cheap fix ( I mean dollar value) even at $70 it is still alot cheaper than a new track.

Are you guys seeing issues with any other sled besides the 06' RTX and possibly the ER. I was under the impression that it was only this model because the GT has the ohlins shock and has a smaller mounting eye. The attack rear is totally different and is not a problem. I noticed Nate chiming in But was not aware of problems with the GT.

If you ask yamaha there is no problem at all. :o|
